Really impressed with this new phone, the video/audio is 100x better then the iPhone 3GS and my Sony Digital Camera...

Believe it or not I'm actually at gig volume here, make sure and watch the video in HD, it really helps the audio... awesome to have a good recording device right in my pocket from now on... :)

Not playing anything cohesive, all original riffs, and one short riff from one of my bands songs...

awesome!

what axe & pickups?

That's actually my most beat-up Les Paul Studio... already had it in my hands so I just ran with it... and it has my tried and true JB/'59 combo... I don't care what anyone says, the JB is my all-time favorite pickup by a long shot (granted i've never played the Bareknuckle Stuff) I think for Mahogany Bodied guitars you can't get much better... thanks for the kind words Kevin!

Great amp and playing + smart, smartphone.
Impressive the evolution of camera/audio from the 3g. :)..
..but crazy price in Europe.

You don't need Bare Knuckles, I think your rig is complete. I like your riffs too.

So how's that more compressed than the Herbert? :poke:

Thanks man, not sure if you listen to Lamb of God, but my playing is HEAVILY influenced by Mark Morton... I can't help it, it's just what comes out of my when I'm randomly riffing... and I still hold true that the VH-4 is much more compressed then the Herbert... I've never said it was a bad thing though, I've come to love the compression... you disagree?

And thanks Mark as well!!!

Don't know, Herbert sounds more compressed to me.
I don't listen to anything, It's been at least 8 years. 99% of bands you guys talk about around here I've never even heard of. I grew up listening to stuff like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, you know.. I've even written sonatas for pianos & stuff like that.

I dunno man, all 3 Herberts I had I could roll off the volume and get a decent clean sound with my guitar, I can't do that with the VH-4, no matter how lightly I pick it just seems to want to go full bore...

Wow, AWESOME recording quality!! Congrats for your new gadget!

I also like a lot your riffing! which are your settings for this clip?

Great tones! Always love to hear a fellow VH4 user, and the video/sound quality was excellent!!, very professional, all from an iphone,,,huh,,might have to look into one of those!

sounded GREAT.... amma get me one of them iphones 4!

I think the VH4 is very compressed but all that Mid helps it sound more "open". It feels VERY compress while playing it though.

I love mine anyways! :D

That's exactly what I mean when I say the VH-4 is much more compressed then the Herbert, it just FEELS compressed, it really is a "feel" thing... that's actually what I love about the VH-4, I'll be the first to admit it hides mistakes a lot, but for me and gigging it's a god send, I've never felt so confident playing live as I do now with the V on the back line... LOVE IT

yup, that compression helps A LOT live.

The VH4 is an awesome amp with A LOT of personality. You either love him or you hate him........he doesn't care what you think, he's the Bad boy

I actually think the VH-4 only has ONE personality... unlike the Herbert which is MUCH more versatile... like you said, you either love the V or you hate it, you can't dail out it's signature tone... nothing sounds like a VH-4 IMO tho, and I love it baby!!!

....the I've secretly been getting the Herbert itch again, although I have absolutely no idea why, every time I plug into one all I want to do is plug straight back into my VH-4....shhhh.... dont tell anyone

no, I meant it has A LOT of personality (strong personality) hehehe

you know, that's how it goes man, I had an Einstein, and I wish I still had it. There are days when I watch my old Einstein videos on my youtube page and I prefer it to my current VH4 tones, but other times the VH4 is where it's at for me. It varies for me. :D

if there only was an adapter to put an active stereo microphone onto the iphone and a good recording software to record in 128 to 320kbit/s quality.
the iphone would be a killer recording tool. there is a 4-track software already but (as i think) with massive setting bugs (no input level justage)...

OK, i had the same problem with my Herbert. I found that it felt to compressed and sounded compressed.

I use a Engl 2X12 V30 cab, they sound quite boomey(hope you know what i mean) I turned the deep knob down and added some bass. This got rid off the problem i had. Less compression, more raw and open sounding, notes rang more clearer. This was on channel 2, i still have to check out channel 3 with this. The deep know was set on 12 o'clock and now i think its around 10 o'clock.

Than again, everybody experiances sound in a different way. Iff youre happy with what youve got, stick with it
The Herbert is the best amp ive played, why? because its the only amp where i spent more time playing guitar

no experiance with the V, but have a look at turning the gain and depth a bit down and add some treble and bass. The low end is eventually for a bassist to deliver. BTW LoG dont use that much gain so try that out. The recording sounded good BTW. Enough off everything is alsways better than to much of something :D

I know LoG's tone very well :) I never said I was trying to replicate it though... and in this video my gain is only at noon... I had a much harder time dialing in my 2007 VH-4, which was overly compressed and just had WAY too much gain, funny enough the head I have now is just 1 year older, but sounds and feels very very different... anyway, thanks for watching!
