Vox module settings?

How are you guys setting your Vox modules? I get great tone out of the T/D, SL2, EG-5 and Bassman, but haven't found the sweet spot on the Vox so far, with a variety of guitars ... Telecaster, Suhr Classic Strat ...

You know, specific channel 1 and 2, gain, bright, bass, B M T settings? This module gets a lot of love on here...

Thanks ...

I don't do alot of heavy EQ on this one. Things end up being pretty straight up at 12:00 with my mids around 11:00. One thing I don't do is pull too much mids because there already is a dip there. That's what seems to give this module that "bounce" that everyone likes. If you pull to much in the midrange, it sounds thin to me. At medium volumes, I put my presence at around 2:30 to give it that shimmer. As the volume goes up, I dial back my presence. Density stays at around 9:30.

Depending on the guitar I will add or subtract bass. On my strat I use the bass boost. For my SG, I don't need to. For a Les Paul, you may have to cut bass. I'm using the 2x12 Eggie cab. If you have the 4x12, it will be a little different.

This one module can get you through an entire gig. Like the Bman, it does it all - nice clean, great edge of distortion (my fav) crunchy rhythm and Brian May type lead. Very cool module. I love this one for my strat using the bridge/middle pickups.

I know it's not totally apples-to-apples, but I tried a 12AT7 tube in my Randall Top Boost module, and it definitely lowered the gain and added in some jangle.

Good tip - I'll have to try that with my 5751's. They might do something similar.

5751 is the ticket the VX for me. Just the right amount of gain on CH B and still cleans up on CH A.

Same for me on nearly every low gain - mid gain modules. The 5751s are one of my favorite tubes honestly. It sounds amazing in the BMAN, COD, SL, DLX, and VX modules in V1. I'm very very pleased with them as is my bud muudrock. I felt the 12AT7 was a bit too stuff..and didn't have that juicy feel of the 5751. The 5751 is a special tube honestly...that I've not had the feeling with many other tubes.

I've got some JAN 5751's and some GE 5751's and they are great for swapping around. Everyone should have a few of them around.

I used to put one in the PI slot of my old Marshall DSL to tame the shrillness......worked great!

Of course my Mod 50 scoff's at the old POS Marshall!!!  :D

If I get a VX, I'd most definitely try a 5751 in there.

JAN Phillips 5751 or GE are the brands I have found that are readily available and sound good.
