Hey Ed! I've never had a chance to play a Suhr, but I've been building an interest in them for quite awhile now. I was just looking through the MobileMe Gallery and noticed the Gold Sparkle Modern CT with the vulcanized maple neck. How does this finish compare to other finishes, particularly tonewise and feel? I'd assume it has very high durability after reading about the process on wikipedia. :)

Also, I was reading about how sulfur is used in the process. I might have an allergy to sulfur (broke out in a rash when I was a baby). Any chance there might be a risk or does the chemistry involved negate this? I really should probably get tested for this allergy some time to make sure.

Sulfur?
Who said that?
This is not the treatment process of rubber we are talking about. The wood is cured in a 500+ degree oxygen free kiln
It wont absorb moisture after this process so it shouldn't need neck adjustments and it rings like a bell.

The finish is our standard finish.
Vulcanized is the term we used since it also means the ancient Roman god of fire and metalworking, identified with the Greek Hephaestus.

I'm sorry for the confusion about the sulfur process. I couldn't find much for information at first and feel like an idiot now for assuming it would involve a similar process :aww:

It seems like an amazing concept. Are there any decisions on price for the option (I'm assuming that this will just be an option rather than standard across the board)?

No problem, Vulcan is $150 list upcharge.... naturally dealer discounts will bring this down much lower

That's an incredible price in itself and much less than I was expecting. I'm starting to set aside whatever money I can now :D
