VX and EG5 P90's

Total sonic bliss. Channel A on the neck pup for skanking simply makes me . Bridge pup with my EG5 really tames the beast a bit. Channel B on the neck is liquidy smooth almost Santana-ish. Anyone else using these pups with their Eggs?

I have been on the hunt for a P-90 guitar lately. I need one. Do you like that Tele? I'm watching one on eBay right now, same color, no Bigsby of course.

Oh yeah it's definitely it's own animal. Neck plays like a Tele. Body is more like a strat. Set neck. The Duncans are really noisy in either bridge or neck position with distortion. I see a noise suppressor in my future for lead work. Tone is majestic and huge on EG5 B but once you stop playing it howls like a wildebeest. This is to be expected with this type of pup in a semi-hollow guitar though. Strangely enough I've heard that if you wrap the pups in foil it cancels out some of the noise. Can't say I have any desire to try it but that's certainly a cheaper alternative to a noise suppressor. In middle position it is dead quiet though. Acts essentially like a humbucker. I got a steal for mine. Picked it up right as it was discontinued dent and scratch from AMS for $419 shipped.

You may want to consider the JA90 though it is a signature model.

I have considered them. They are great looking too. The only thing holding me back is that I'd really like to get my P-90 fix with a short scale, 24 3/4" guitar. A little snarkier, you know.

Beautiful sunburst on yours BTW. And the JA in red is very pretty.

EDIT-Thanks for the compliment. It's funny I wanted the off white initially but as fate would have it the deal was for the other finish. It is absolutely gorgeous in person. GET ONE!

Well there you have it straight from the horses mouth. It's his guitar so he ought to know the scale length. Now I am VERY intrigued by that model. That looks like the WINNER!!! I'll have to go talk with my freind at GC and have hime scoop me when they get one in.

I wonder if Wade's (motor city pickups) P-90s are as noisy as the Seymour Duncans? If I had to rip off a wild ass guess I'd say no...

I've been dying to get my hands on a P-90 axe too. I'm kind of thinking about a second-hand Hamer artist P-90 or something but a P-90 telecaster body sure looks good too! Not sure about the hollow body on the JA-90 though.

Semi-hollow is an acquired taste for sure. I personally love it. After my buddy played mine he went out and replaced the minibuckers on his Gretsch Pro Jet. He was on the fence between the Gretsch and the Reverend Club King 290. I think he made the wrong decision. The Reverend is a great instrument for the price. The nut is generic but it has a treble knob that makes it sound extremely similar to a tele. They have the Charger which is solid. If 2 p90's aren't enough they have the Jet Stream 390. Overkill IMO but hey they make guitars with 3 buckers so why not?

Seriously man... I want a P90 guitar just for those Pitbulls. I'm thinking goldtop tele body with a maple neck ( and maybe with a floyd ) and those Pitbull P90s in it.
