I would like to remove th bright switch from channel A of my VX. I only want it on channel B. Can someone tell me which cap to lift on the upright board?
you might want to try Yellow Jackets with EL84 tubes in the Mod50. Might get you closer to a Vox tone and yo do not have to rebias to put them in. Also allows you to crank it up without it being louder.

Two EL84's wouldn't be loud enough for me. It's not a volume issue. I like the sound of channel A with the preamp around 10:00 w/o the bright switch engaged. I like channel B with the bright boost 1 engaged with the gain at 11:00. All I want to do is remove the bright boost from channel A. Does this make any sense?
Wagster, what you're saying makes sense. The A channel of the VX is very bright, and the B channel is gutsy and ballsy. It's hard to believe those tones are coming from the same module.
I like mine that way but I can understand that you'd like to bring the A channel's tone in line with the B channel.
Bruce hooked me up. It took me 2 minutes to un-lift the bright cap for Ch. A. I prefer it this way because I can get Brad Paisley/John Jorgenson type tones from Ch. A. If I ever want to put it back it only takes a few minutes.
Interesting. That mod sounds like something that could work on any module. That could be just the ticket for the EG5! (removing the bright cab on CHB, that is)

What would be really cool would be if you could add a second bright switch so you could set it per channel.
This could be really useful on the modules where A is basically clean and B is basically dirty, like
BMAN, SL, SL2.
