Toss up between IE4 and M4. seriously.

M4 = 8 channels of extreme awesome.
IE-4 = 4 channels of holy grail awesome.


I'm giving the edge to the IE4. Maybe it's nostalgia, or the lengths to which I went to win it on Ebay while on a boat in the Mediterranean.

It definitely "hangs" with the Fish and other top level pres, but the attack is more immediate for sure!

I like it. I can definitely cop subtle, non-aggressive tones with its versatile, sweepable mids, and channel combining capability. This preamp is a winner, for sure.
