I remember when the TJ first came out there was lots of interest and quite a few early adopters, followed by a massive sell off seeing many for sale on the various forums.

After this initial shake out phase, there was left a core group of happy owners.

Now there is a 2nd surge in popularity and you know what that means, another crash/sell off is looming on the horizon.

Stating the obvious I would say. I knew 2 or 3 people got some recently, did not know it was becoming a new uproar in general? Other than the few on here I have seen nothing over on HRI, TGP or HIV (I mean Harmony Central). Is it really getting that popular again?

First off one must convert to EL34's before judging the head. It it very particular with speakers and cabs as well. And one must alllow some time to become familiar with the strange EQ. Tim, Steve, and I have had some great amps and we all are digging the TJ. To each his/her own.

Touche

What goes up must come down yadda yadda.

I bought mine inbetween the surges during a lull, didn't expect to see another surge happen so soon.

i would say it's all the same as anything else.

one look at ebay and i found 3 of them for sale.

sucks, as i just bought a brand spankin new one, with regular grill, and would have rather the metal grill.

i know it's just cosmetic, and I know I can change it...
if i want to.

Only reason I ordered one so quickly was I tried one out and dug the tones.
I had not planned on buying another amp so quickly like this...as I cannot really afford it.
and you are right about the cabs.
Not sure sure it likes my mesa traditional.

I thought it sounded really good with My Mills until I plugged it into an FL Uberkab. Stand back twenty feet just off to one side of the cab and wow. This cab literally throws the sound at you, and resonates very nicely. Plugged it back into the Mills and Poo. The Mills just went on Craigslist. It's a great cab but not with the TJ. Speakers were similar in both.

I think the same $2000 just changes hands here. People buy, credit card comes due, people sell. Make some excuse to the board about wanting to sell. The TJ is very reasonably priced compared to some other stuff on the market and kicks ass. Watt for watt, it's about the best buy out there, with a change or two. The metal does look cool, but, keep them covered. The dust mites do love to make a home inside there!

I am running mine with 2 Mesa 4x12 Traditionals and I really dig it with the EL34's in it. What is it you are not liking about the tone you are getting with these cabinets? They seem to hold together well for me and not flub out at all.

Its good you got the traditional cabs. This makes all the difference in the world. If it were Recto or other oversize, results would be undesirable. Save your coins though for a new Bogner FL.

And, I would probably pick up another one of these when people sell. Now, if it was Cameron modded, they would sell for $7000 a piece.

basically, i feel the same with most amps and the Traditional cab...
it's tone, but kind of flat, no sparkle, just loud and there. doesn't impress, just works.
for instance, if i use my marshall vintage, i get more sparkle to the top end, and somehow more midrange.
if i use the k100 cab, i get thunderous low end, ok mids, and ok highs.
gets thinner if i use the recto 2x12, not as much low end.

I've got so much coming and going lately, I'm not sure I can pull the ubercab UNTIL i sell one of my other cabs...which i am finding very very hard to do.
so expensive to ship, and locally hard to sell too.
sucks.

Metal grills don't mix well in the open desert I take it.

I'm trying to budget a Bogner 4x12 next year (ever since playing through Zack's I've been jonesing hard for one), for the time being I'm running mine through a Roadking 4x12 with a full size custom backboard Mesa made for me so it's fully sealed in the back.

To be honest the TJ sounds quite good through it, no boominess or woofyness at all. My theory is that the divider board splitting the interior space inside the cab might have something to do with it.

Damn I just checked, didn't see the recent listings. I hadn't seen any on the 'bay in awhile and just assumed. :)

may seem off topic but i wander if the xtc can get close to the tj as far as heavy tones ,or tight percussive stuff...sorry im new to bogner world :2thumbsup:

Simple answer IMHO... NO!! I had a Bogner XTC, a Classic and a 20th XTC and they are great amps. But the amp does not compare with the Twin Jet for high gain and the red channel barely touches channel 1 on the Twin Jet gain wise. The XTC is a sweet sweet amp, and has many many wonderful tones. The blue channel alone is amazing, but for heavy tones and tight percussive stuff it does not come close to the Uber.

The 20th Ann. can get kinda close. It's not quite as aggressive and doesn't have that low end thump that the Uber has, but I bet in a recording you could fool people into thinking it was an Uber if you set it up right (crank the presence and bass). As Tim said, the XTC is a sweet sounding amp and handles hard rock better than metal. The red channel has a lot of gain and the Uberschall has a TON of gain....both have way more than I need.

heads up folks.

I went and bought another Twin Jet.but this time with a Metal Grill.
So the crash in Cloth Grilled TJ's is here!

So let me know if anyone wants a very Brand New Twin Jet (with a cloth grill)...especially, since I am already paying for the new one!

Thanks!
