wanna hear how the bb preamp sounds with my eggie?

i tried a new live setup this weekend with my trusty tol 100---

gtr->pedals->eggie tol 100 loaded down to line w/ 16 ohm hotplate->line out to tc gforce->stereo out to crate power block=L/R out to two cabs

one old boogie half open back vertical 2x12 micing the greenie top (75 on the bottom)

one hughes and ketner EV 12L 1x12 closed back/ported

i hope you'll agree the bb preamp is a killer mate with the eggie...i kicked it on channel 1 clean, and also on channel 3's plexi-ish tone and ch 4 liquid gold tone for the extra pepper on the steak;)

after 2 &1/2 minutes the rest of the vid is just me rolling through some presets i stored into the gforce-
ear pastries for the youtube fxs crew that asked me to demo more of the unit's capabilities

eggie's master was at 7--hotplate was GLOWING :D

Yup! That sounds super-spectacular. BB preamp is one of my all-time favorites too. Had to change underwear after hearing TOL100 channel3 and 4 though

Killer tones bro. That is exactly why I like the EG3/4 so darn much. The EG3/4 was designed to be like TOL 3 and 4. Love it.

Why the crate power block? Is that your normal power amp?????

I find the BB exceptional through the Bassman module and now I will have to try it through the EG3/4. Unfortunately due to volume limitations on my Bassman, I can't get the BB's volume past 9:00, but it still sounds good.

I think the bb preamp is such an amazing pedal for adding the finishing touch to a heavier type tone. so compatable with so many amps...andy timmons lone star tones, rob marcello used one on his Suhr od100 se and it screamed!
and with my eggie it is perfect imo. i can dial in the right amount of slice or fatness and the noise is not there.

TONE! Man! If only I was there to hear it!

thanks s-

makes me happy! and if you wanna hear how a different strat sounds through the same rig I posted a non YouTube QuickTime movie on the rig talk general forum using a mahogany strat with maple neck and Duncan custom custom bridge pu. More metal!

That was a fantastic demonstration. I really want to get a BB pedal. You have tone for days.
thanks man--
after using this amp for 8 years off and on I better be able to get a decent tone out of it!
you rip bro and your modular demo was pro! my only gripe was I wanted to hear you blaze more!

actually I don't normally run stereo live for simplicity sake but when do I take that little guy for a spin to power one stereo side of the gforce and just return into the eggie for the other side. I'm not too fussy about my wet power amp and a stereo gforce is a terrible thing to waste!
I had a mesa 395, a marshall 50/50, and a rivera tbr1 over the years and tube tone is better but SO heavy to cart!
my tone hero mike landau uses a marshall valvestate 80/80 single space power amp so there you go.

If you don't mind, where did you have the gain and volume set? My clean channel limits me with that...

generally-
gains on ch 1/2 are at about 1:00, channel volumes about noon

gains on 3/4 are about 1-2:00, ch volumes about noon-1

the output master with the THD in the equation was about 2:00

and my opinion of the thd experiment was that the amp increased in compression, although honestly the TOL is naturally so bouncy and forgiving you really don't benefit that much from that as you would a stiffer drier amp, and it had a thicker sounding fluidity with the hotplate loaded, and i could back off of the channel gains and rely more on power tube compression for touch sensitivity.

Great tones and great demo. I've got a BB in front of my Egnater M4 and Axe Fx. Just need to wire it up.
I've tried to imagine how I'd run an axe/eggie rig.
Probably the twin/bassman/vox/sl modules unless I knew the baseman could get clean enough to cover the fender clean core tone then I'd get the cod instead of twin.

Then just dial in added comp/drive/eq levels w/ the axe on each of the core eggie tones.

I really do think the m4/axe combo is unbeatable for the most killer tone versatility in the smallest package. and although the axefx guys will state that the m4 is not needed my ears crave the tube influence to give the axefx flesh and blood.
