Hello gents, greetings from Alaska.I'm playing a 100wt Einy and use a cpl of les Pauls and a Ibanez through body.I've messed with preamp tubes till i'm blue in the face.I'm an old Fart..LoL and use Dimarzio Evolutions.I play in Eb.My quest for more growl seems to point towards BRNK pups.Been playin my 57 historic a lot. Will the nailbomb get harmonicly nasty and still clean up?Seems the Warpig is the kitchen sink..does it clean up at all?.Thanks from input from all that have used these.Hay Pauly..don't you use nailbombs.Thankx again Steve.

Steve, keep in mind the Warpig is VERY bassy, same for the Ceramic version, in pretty much every guitar i've tried 'em. (You know when you have to turn the bass knob under noon..)

I do think the (ceramic on bridge) cleans up well. but what do I know about clean, it's all about full blast metal for me.

I have a nailbomb on the neck of my jackson, and I LOOOOOVE it, it's got some mid-bite,but get super smooth for leads if you back up the volume a lil, and the clean are very rich.

Hope it helps

between the 2 warpig is the one with a growl imo. nailbomb is pronounced in high mids. warpig doesn't really clean up in my book. warpig neck coil tapped is a very nice unique clean sound. i think you should be looking for something else, neither of the 2 match your description.

do i use Nailbombs??? no, i dont. i use a stock Gibson 500T. I love it.Have used it since i got the guitar back when i was in high school. :loco: Although with all this talk of these tasty pickups i may have to test drive a few..

Assuming that you play a Les Paul, I'd say leave your pickup in there. With all my BKP craze, I don't think they are the right pickups for Les Pauls. All the BKPs sound really good & in some way so much superior to Gibson pickups, yet in that process they loose that signature LP sound.

Thanks guys,I think a warpig might help my Ibanez rgt it's lacking bottom.I just got a 99 histric goldtop ,been playin that because it has more balls.I'm a junkie for the Floyd so eventually I'll be playing it again .

L.o.L...not till may.Thank God for a Diezel and a seasonal job up at the north slope that allows me to play so much.Getting this Einy has made me consider moving back down south to play out again..

If it helps, I put a seymour duncan parallel axis in my rgt and it sounds killer, very tight and 100x better than the stock pu's.

If it helps, I relaced a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck in my Ibanez PGM with a BK Holydiver and it's so much better :D

i wont be removing any pickups then. I love my LP tone..so i will stick with that... thats at least one thing that wil lremain the same this year

I gotta have to disagree a bit
they're both very growly pickups
the warpig is more compressed and has a bit more low mids, but that's not a night and day difference
the nailbomb is not really rich in upper mids
it's just less low middy, so it sounds more focused and controlled than the warpig
more like a smoother, punchier and more articulated (and alnico) duncan custom
the pig does clean up well, but only by rolling some volume off
the bomb does great cleans at 10

Has anyone played a "blackdog" Bare knuckle pickup? I wonder what that would sound like in a Gibson Les Paul or a PRS.

If you want great cleans i'll stay away from ceramic magnets.
For example an alnico V warpig has almost the same fury of a ceramic miracle man but the warpig cleans up better.
But you can email Tim @ bkp and find helpfull advices and custom PU. ;)

Anyone using ceramic miracle man in bridge position? :D

just for the record, my favorite alnico BKP models in a les paul were the holy diver bridge and cold sweat neck
the cold sweat bridge (ceramic) works GREAT too, but in a brighter and nastier way
and it does clean up really well

As far as I know, the MM is ceramic by default...

Yes, I have a MM set in an ESP explorer... and it works absolutly great.

I also have a Ceramic Warpig set, Ceramic Nailbomb and 2 sets of Alnico Nailbombs...

They are all simply awesome, each has its own personallity, but works absolutly perfect with my guitars and with the Herbert ;).

I highly recomend BKP :P (It's really all I use in all my guitars).
