Was my Einstein modified??

I just got a used Einstein, and I had to fix one of the preamp tube sockets so I took the chasis out to make it easier. When I looked at the circuit board I saw some empty spots, a cap across a resister spot, and some other things that did not look stock.

It sounds great so I wouldn't think that anything was done wrong. I am hoping that someone can chime in to let me know if this was a change in circuit board or something, and maybe a factory mod?? The serial number is 002/003.

Another quick question. I noticed a good amount of corosion on the contacts for the fx loop, so I would think that there is corosion on the inside of the speaker jack. Contact cleaner did not remove much of it. Is there a good way to get rid of that buildup, or would I be better off replacing the speaker jacks so that there is no extra resistance. I had a problem with that on a cabinet, and I would think that it is hard on the tubes, and OT.

Thanks

Ryan

I'm sure peter will chime in but with that serial it seems like you have really early one. probably in house revisions.

Doesn't little Einy kick ass!!! I love mine!

I love the variety of tones. My peters is a high gain monster, but the warhawk channel is a bit of a one trick pony. The Diezel does everything very well. I can do everything with just channel one, then channel two is just  I have only spent about an hour playing it so far, but I am loving it. I just can't wait for my Redstar cab so that I can try it through a really good cab.

Channel two actually has three different sounds depending on where the switch for channel one is set. try it!

I will have to try that. So the Einstein sort of has six channels

Congratulations, You have the third Einstein 50
The mods are in most cases done by me. I´m always try to
get the best tone out of it.

The jacks for loop and speakers have a long life. Of course
You can spray it with a bit contact cleaner, but please don´t
bend any contact springs.

Thanks for confirming that for me. The work looked well done, so I thought it might have been a factory mod. Contact cleaner didn't work too good. I used some sandpaper, and a small screw driver, but I might replace the 8 ohm jacks since those are the ones that I use. I might try to find some with gold plated contacts since the contacts on my Avatar cab got coroded, then I got no sound out of my amp, that caused my power tubes to fail. I might try to find some deoxit since I have heard good things about that. The contact cleaner that I have doesn't seem to work that good.

Thanks for chiming in on a weekend...do you ever take a break??

If you do the channel switching mod and control it with MIDI it does.

(hint: a midi fx processor in the loop can control the level fluctuations between channels making 6 useful sounds available to you.)

Who needs a rack if you have an Einstein, and an FX processor...I might have to get one...one that has a parametric EQ...Maybe not depends on how much I dig the different modes after the honeymoon. It is great to see the possibilities. German amps seem to be like German cars lots of great usefull features that are not even advertised!!!

hint #2: the g major 2 is perfect for this application. ;)

So I was asking about the speaker outputs not making good contact because I knew that something didn't sound 100%, also it was rather quiet. It still sounded great. So I decided to swap some tubes. I noticed that one of the power amp tubes felt loose, so I tightened up the contacts in that socket, still quiet, on to preamp tubes...I put in all new tubes, and looked at the sockets, I get to tube 6, and wow it looks like I could fit two pins between the contacts for one of the pins. I closed the gap so that I have proper contact, fire it up and... :worship: Godly epic foundation shaking tones fly from the speakers, and kick my ass with awesomeness :worship:

Best amp ever!!! Now I might have to get a Schmidt to go with it, that could get me in some trouble with the wife :scared:

Congradulations!
Get the Schmidt! Those Jedi squirrels wielding light sabers will protect you from your wife.

 the squirrles don't come out much in the winter. I might have to wait until summer to get the Schmidt, and maybe I can find some small machine guns for them :codeak: :jedi: :force:

Every time I fire up that Einstein it is just godly tone. All the controls are very usable. I found with my Peters I liked one setting, and that was it, with the Einstein it is hard to find a sound that I don't like. The only thing that I have not been able to find yet is a bit of sizzle in the top end without getting too bright, but cleans are great texas mode is :inlove: high gain is  I just can't wait to get my new cab.
