Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me or even Peter as well
I bought my Diezel VH4 brand new last year in the box, and I use the Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro midi switcher to do my channel switching and insert activation.
I noticed lasy year that when I switched from channels from 1-3 or going 3-1, there was this type of “ping” sound, then a few weeks later I noticed it went away.
Now this year, actually just a couple of weeks ago, I had my EL34 power tubes changed and my amp rebiased, and now when I do the channel switching again, the “ping” sound is back again. Don't know if its something normal and because the tubes have to be “broken in”. And on top of that, when the amp is on and when I don't play, every few seconds I hear this very small “tick” noise, I thought maybe it was one of my wires that was bad or an effect pedal causing it, but its not. Im wondering if this is an issue with the amp or maybe just the power running through the house. I do however run the Diezel and effects through my Furman power conditioner. Its not very lound, but you do notice it.
Hopefully you guys can help me.
Thanks a lot
Mark

Mine doesn't have the ping when switching channels, but I do have some weird "tick" like noises. I've replaced every tube (preamp and poweramp) and it still does it off and on. The wiring in the wall is fine (I use a power conditioner that tests the ground as well), so it's not a grounding issue.

It's at the tech right now for other issues as well and I'm still waiting to hear back about it. I'll chime in again if he fixes it.

That ping sound usually comes from the first preamp tube V1 when it's a bit microphonic. As long as it doesn't feedback than there shouldn't be a problem.

True!
When you switch, manually or through midi, from ch 1-3 ,3-4 or 1-4 and viceversa a little ping is nothing to worry about.
If the ping is really subtle and you have not other bad preamp tubes symthoms like: big cracks, ticks, feedbacks etc keep the current
tubes and play. ;)

Hello Mark,

please call Ruby Tubes and order a 12AX7AC5 HG+ Diezel selection
for V1.

This might sound odd --- but

do you keep your cell phone near you when you play?

If so turn it off and see if the "tick/ping" goes away after a few minutes

Thanks a lot everyone and Peter for the advice.
Ill see if the ping sound goes away soon and if not Ill order the preamp tube as mentioned by Peter.
FourT6and2: Thanks and looking forward to hearing back if your tech managed to make that "tick" sound go away. Its really not that aparent, but you still notice it.
LVC: Actually its funny you mentioned the cell phone. I thought it might be that but realized my cell wasnt anywhere next to me. Thanks again everyone
