Weird sound with Bman channel B / axe FX user ?

Hi everybody,

I'm a new proud user of the egnater M4 , it's my first post even if read you for month...

I've bought the preamp a few month ago loaded with 4 modules (TV, MHG, EG 3/4,VX) which actually 3 were not those I wanted (but it was the last in stock). I was very pleased by the EG 3/4 but I've replaced TV & MHG by the Bman and SL2.

So First, I guess/hope it's a tube problem, but I have a strange sound on Bman channel B, a too thin sound and the gain is really low, actually after noon position, the gain became to get lower than before... :aww:
do you think I have to change the tube ? which one should I pick to get the best sound for a Bman channel B (I will use it for blues crunch sound, no need to have a lot of gain)
And is it normal to have a bad tube in a brand new preamp at this price ?
I really dig the sound of other channels, especially since the modules suit my needs (not that TV & MHG were bad but just not my taste), but I'm a little bit disappointed to still have problems with a high end preamp.

And secondly, is there any axe fx user here that use it only as a FX unit with the M4 ?
I have a lack of dynamic when I put the axe in the chain whatever I do with it, the tone is wright and it's a little lack but it's enough to change my feel with the amp so I just want to know if one of you guys have no problem with it or if I just have to change my fx unit ? I would like to feel the same that when I put the M4 right thru the amp. My old rocktron mutlivalve has not that dynamic lack, so I really think about put it again in my rack.
my rig is : M4 - Axe FX (in 4 CM now) - CAA 2x12...

Anyway thanks for all the info/answers/audio clips and other stuff we can find here, when you have to buy without trying it's really important to have so much informations. So really thanks to all !

Seb

Well I've tried to swap the tubes with a good modules, and it is not a tube stuff...

Any idea ? No gain on channel B and even with the master set to 10/10 the volume is really low, with gain and master at noon, you don't hear any sound :scared:

I was going to say probably a bad tube, but since it's not that maybe try contacting egnater within the next few days if you can't find any help here.

Have you moved the Bman to other slots? And did you try nknown goods tubes,I know sounds dumb but tubes just die sometimes or try some deoxit in the pots of module or clean the end pins with a pencil eraser:confused:

Hi,

Well I've tried it into another slot and same thing... I've check the module really well and nothing is obvious as a broken weld... I'm thinking about a dead gain pot or something.
I send a mail right now to egnater and to the music store from which I purchase it.

Thanks for the help,

Seb

Yeah doesnt sound at all like how my BMan sounds. Get in touch with Egnater. Something is amiss for sure.

Hi Jeff,

I'm trying to get some informations about my wrong module by the board as you didn't answer to my emails anymore...
So it's been 3 months since I've posted this thread, that he had a few emails exchange (with always a loooong laps of time between) and I still have this brand new not working module !!

you told me about sending me a new one and then nothing, no more answers, no module sent...

So, what should I think about all this ? Is that all the respect you have for your customers ?

I hope I'll have some news quickly,

seb

Is there anybody at egnater's who can explain what is the situation for my bad module ?

3 months of waiting, almost 2 month of silence now !

I can't understand this behaviour

Seb,

How many times have you called? How many emails? How many messages left? Break it down for us so we have a clear picture...

The Egnater "headquarters" in Michigan is basically a 2 man shop. Jeff and Bruce. Doing research, development, building, and testing for 2 seperate lines of guitar amps (GC and custom), plus getting ready for NAMM, plus customer support, etc.

I get the feeling that they're at a very tough stage right now. Trying to grow the company, but still not ready to hire more full-time staff.

3 months waiting isn't exactly what I'd call excusable. But that being said, they're only human, and might have legitimately forgot. I'd cut them a little bit of slack, ya know?

Have you called the dealer that you bought it thru? Or did you buy it used? Did you call and then just sit back and wait? Or have you tried calling like, once a week?
