Sold the Lonestar. My only amp is my Egnater M4/VHT 2/50/2. Looking to sell my TC G-Major so I can get an Axe FX or Eclipse for my processing.

You are the Lonestar Loner Lone Ranger.

Haha! Yes, yes I am! Although not pure either! We'll see what the future brings... If it brings money, it might also bring a Renegade. If it brings more money, then it might as well bring my first MOD ever (oh! and a LP Classic!) If it brings crap, than I will stay as the Rebel Lonestar Lone Ranger for the time being.

Still love the Lonestar. Just decided I'd upgrade the M4 rig by beefing up the effects. Selling the G-Major and will replace it with an Axe Fx or Eventide Eclipse.

What module(s) are you going to use for clean sound when the lonestar is gone?

T/D

Should be all I need. I just replaced my G-Major with an Axe Fx Standard. And while I only really want it for effects, I'm sure there's a usable clean tone in there if I really need one.

Man Fazo, let me know how that AxeFX thingy does for an effects unit. I have heard they KILL as a stand alone effects modeller. Killer modulated and tape delays. Makes me drool!!!

Well, this post is pretty old but brings up an issue I've been wrestling with. Did you end up missing the Lonestar clean when you went pure Egnater? I have an M4 and a roadster (has the lonestar clean) and I'm just not sure I can get as good a clean out of the Egnater. BTW are you still using the M4 rig?

What module/speaker are you using vs. the Roadster?

The Lonestar has a great clean (w/ great reverb on board, too). I really tried to like them
on several occasions, but just could not get into the 2nd channel. Not sure if the Roadster solves that.

Listen to the clips that Jeff Hilligan posted of Keith Howland playing some cleaner modules (VX, BMan, COD) and see
if any strike your fancy.

Also, Salvation mods in Europe makes (mods) a module based on the Lonestar clean, IIRC.

Hi Steve:

I have the T/T, BMAN, DLX and VX.

I can compare these tones to the following amps/preamps I have that actually have clean tones: Bogner Fish, Bogner Ecstasy, Fender Concert (Rivera), Fender Twin.

The Twin is your ultimate clean benchmark. The Fish also has real nice and warm cleans on the 'Country' channel (Gene, feel free to chime in with your 2 cents).

I don't miss the cleans on any of those amps when I am using my MOD50 or M4. The Egnater clean modules deliver the goods. The T/T is super clean - if that's what you are looking for. Although not quite as three dimensional and full in tonality as the Fish 'Country' channel, it still sounds great.

Cheers,

Rob

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fish clean. Never Harsh. always bouncy.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the VX A channel clean/semi-clean. SOOOO sweet and right.

Both of these sounds are the best of the best IMO.

I haven't connected with the T/T, the T/V, or the BMan. I loved the D side of my T/D, and I have a D/D on the way, so hopefully that will satisfy me on the modular side.

Hey Gene:

I'm not sure what kind of axes you typically play.

Live, I play a Strat at least 50% of the time. No, not a "super Strat" with humbuckers. I mean the real deal with three single coils.

Anyways, the tone on the BMAN that does it for me is Channel A, just on the verge of break up, on the neck pickup of a Strat. That's a MONEY tone and is the main reason I keep the BMAN around.

Just FYI.

Rob

Funny you mention that. The first time I played a bman at the amp lounge, it was with a strat. It was pure sex. Then, when I finally got one for my M4, I realized it sounded very blah and bland with all of my dual humbucker axes. sold it.

If I played a strat, I would certainly use a Bman.

Hey Rob that "dimensional" quality your talking about and the "bounce" that Gene is talking about is kind of what I'm missing. What do you use for power and processing with your M4? I'm running mine through the return of a tweaker head into a tweaker 1X12 witha scumback h75 65.
Really diggin all the input guys! :2thumbsup:

Steve,

Saturday, I gigged my Fish through a Roland SDE-2500 delay, and the fx return of my Egnater Seminar head, and 2 Ported Pacific 2x12's. Loaded with EV speakers.

Steve:

I have typically run my Fish through a Marshall 9200 poweramp. At 100 watts per side, it has a little headroom (  ), which is likely contributing quite a bit to the tone I'm getting from it!

I am now looking to sell the Marshall, as I picked up a Randall RT2/50 for obvious reasons. The Fish still sounds killer through the Randall - as does the Egnater.

I run the Fish and two M4s in loops 1, 2 and 3 of a Rocktron Patchmate. Loop 4 has a Rocktron Replifex, although this loop is hardly ever engaged as I am really just not a big effects guy. The output of loop 4 goes directly to the power amp input on the Randall. As such, I am *basically* running my preamps direct to the poweramp (with the caveat that they are running through the circuit of the Patchmate as well).

I have an Xotic BB+, Boss DD-3, Diamond Tremolo and Dunlop Wah on the floor. I don't know the model number of the Dunlop - I bought it back in the 90's and at the time I think it was sold as a Soundgarden or Kim Thayil signature model or something. I believe Dunlop still makes it, but its now just given a model number. It's all chrome with the 4 position wah voicing switch and boost switch on the right side of the pedal casing. These are the only real effects I use and my signal goes:

Guitar -> Xotic BB+ -> Boss DD-2 -> Diamond Tremolo -> Dunlop Wah -> Input of Patchmate Loop 1.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for with the Fish. It's cleans are somewhat unique in how warm and round they are. Although the cleans from the Egnater modules are fantastic, I can't mimic the Fish clean tone with them.....

I use Marshall 1960A 4x12 cabinets with British Celestion G12T-75 speakers exclusively. Have for around 20 years. I see no reason not to - to my ears and for the music I play, they sound great right out of the gate. No need to dick around with speaker changes....
