I spent just a few minutes with it to ensure it functions properly but I am sooooooooooo happy. I absolutely love VX channel B. Simply monstrous! I love the clean tone I was able to dial in on BMAN channel A. Channel B of this module really stood out to me in terms of being it's own thing. It's a big round chunky ball of  (at least how I have it dialed in now).

But the absolute show stopper is the EG5. This thing is it's own animal for sure. The thing I noticed was no matter how much I turned up the gain the notes retained definition, where with a Marshall or Mesa it turns into mud. Whoever said this thing can't do metal is nuts. Here in a bit I'm going back down to my lair and dropping some D.

Fully expect another report in a few days once I really get this thing cooking.

Awesome!!

Bruce and Jeff know whats up!!!

Congratulations!!

I love my EG5 man. I agree about it on the fact that it can do metal! Take that and some 6550s in your power section, and you'll be in heaven man!!

Glad you are diggin the eggie stuff man. I'm in love with my Mod50 and M4. There's no better tone for me I know that for sure. Everytime I am gassing for a new amp, I go down and play my eggie gear, and realize nothing sounds better for me! I just need to get the VX again sometime :).

Sweet!!!I love the EG5 so much I bought another one  The VX in the Mod 50 stacked with them der 6550s is well how do I put it"KILLER"The boys at Egnater know tone!!!!!!!

Awesome, I can't wait to get mine! I love the vx, it's my favorite/desert island module (I haven't played the bman or sl yet though).

Congrats again and rock on! What are you running it through?

Congrats dude! Happy day for sure! Make sure you set the EG5 bass boost on 2!

I have a Rivera TBR-5 power amp into a Sunn 4x12 with GT75's. Axes are a Fender TC90 with upgraded electronics, sperzels, and a bigsby as well as a Godin Flat 5x that I need to take in for an overhaul. I currently have a Sunn 4x10 as well but the speakers are originals from the 70's and need replaced.

Eventually I want to get rid of the Line 6 rack stuff and get an Axe Fx Standard. I wish Fractal would release an FX only rack unit. I just don't see the point in having the amp and cab sims for my rig.

It's going to be a bit before I make a decision on the 4th slot. I really want to break these in and get a feel for what I think I'll need for the other 2 channels. I suspect I'll want a lead module. I've been looking at the SL2. I really want something from the Marshall camp in the arsenal as well.

I'm going down to play right now actually. Neighbors are gone so I can really give it whirl! If I haven't said so already, Thanks Jeff, Bruce and Frank for making a stellar product. This thing was worth the wait!

Congrats man ... (psssst buy an EG3/4)

beat me too it, get the eg3/4

As for the axe-fx, would an effects only one be just one rack space? I think cliff was mentioning how the ability to call up amp sims doesn't affect the effects in any way. In other words, they're not competing for storage space or degrading the effects quality. Consider an amp sim as just another effect, just in your case one that you wouldn't use. If cliff ever does a floor board version of the axe-fx (like nova system, g-system, m13 etc) then I might be interested.

Take home story: eg3/4!

Yeah a one space unit would be ideal as my M4 and power amp take up 6 spaces alone. :D I was thinking about the FX only unit from a cost perspective as well as practicality. In my case I have a GC Pro, cabs with 2 types of speakers, and an M4 so the amp and cab sims would be unneeded fat in a $1500 unit. They could cut the cost in half and sell an amp and cab unit for $750 and the FX unit for the same and still make a killing. Hell they could sell 1/2 rack units of modulation, time based FX, etc. and sell them for $450. Strike while the iron is hot man.

I have been heavily considering the EG3/4 due to being completely smitten with my EG5. I also really want an SL. I don't suppose there are any plans for a new module in '09?

Id be in on trhat too chode7. Axe FX mod and delay only. I'd buy it right now!!!

+1. I'm in tonal heaven w/ my Eggie stuff. If the offer a 1U version w/ just fx and delay I'll get one for sure! I don't want to have to buy yet another rack, because my rig grows by 1U!!!

It doesn't cost them anything extra to install the amp and cab sim software is what I'm saying. My understanding is that they have robust processing power to accommodate all those updates and any future ones, so it doesn't cost any extra to dump in the amp sims in there. I guess you could argue that there was a lot of research and development that went into the amp and cab sims, but there was a lot that went into the effects I'm sure too. Since it would require all the same hardware, there's no real money saved in leaving out amp sims.

Note, I'm not an axe user or even gassing for one, but when cliff explained it, it made sense to me. He said you could look at it for 1500 for a top of the line effect processors and you get free amp sims with it. I think it was a two unit version to fit all the components he wanted in there and have a larger screen. If he made a one rack space version that'd be cool, I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy it. I know I would be lured if there was a cheaper and smaller version, specifically a floorboard version: basically if axefx made something as easy as the m13 but with their effects.

What poweramp are you using that is 4 spaces? VHT 2150? Or are you running a power conditioner and something else to make your current set up 6 spaces?

I hear ya with the floor model. They could slice it up and offer it like the TC Nova series and do a M13 style unit.

If only my rig were 6 spaces. :D I'm a jack of all trades. I sing, play guitar, keys, sequencing, sampling, etc. The rack is...

Rivera TBR-5 (4 spaces)
M4 (2 spaces)
Line 6 Mod Pro
Line 6 Filter Pro
Korg Triton Rack (2 spaces)
BBE (for the Triton)

I hocked the Echo Pro to obtain the rack + the BBE + cash toward the M4. My time based Fx are now non existent and I must replace them! I realized how much delay I was using once it was out of the chain. I still need to add a power conditioner, a tuner, and I hope to get an Axe Fx. I even considered adding a mixer to the top of the rack for the Triton. Total overkill but that is the nature of the beast with this project. I want to try to keep it under 15 spaces. :D

I have a 20 space...lol the TC Gsystem is sweet and is floor or rack mount. Takes a while to figure everything out, A longgggggggg day. It has a usb and i hooked it to my laptop which made editing a breeze. Once on ur computer screen u can control and see everything along with hearing it and saving presets. Amazing control over so many effects, also has the tc 2290 delay in it making it worth it just for that(used about $1200-$1800 evil bay). The G system has a loop just for ur preamp :D for pre/post effects. seems transparent. I will do a write up on it soon, im still working with it and programing it from the laptop. just my 2 cents.

EG3/4 :2thumbsup:
