So last night we played a very important show in which we had to share guitar cabinets and guess what..? Low and behold some idoiot kicked his glass of water into my bottom speaker of my 4X12. They were the last band so i couldnt plug it in to make sure it was ok. We dont have a show till Saturday. Is this a big deal or no? Some people say it depends on what the speakers are made out of. Im REALLY pissed about this and hope that im over reacting.
Do you think i have anything to worry about?
..i think he played through it even after it was wet.
Peter?

...i have the Diezel 4X12 R. ..with V30's i believe.

 ohh that sucks, i would have hulked out for sure! no idea on if your cab is safe though, good luck

Don´t be upset. It will be dry and maybe sounds
better as before ;)

oh-oh, i can already see loads of us giving their cabs a shower today.

Yea. I really wanted to give him a beat down for being so dumb but we had a lot of people there and it REALLY would have looked bad if i did that.
ANYWAYS... i tested out the speaker last night and i didnt noticeably hear anything WAY out of the ordinary.
Im wondering, can the speaker be damaged and i not hear anything..?
Or is it VERY obvious if something is wrong?

Take it easy. Speakers are made of some kind of cardboard and hence will dry quickly and not take any damage in 9 out of 10 cases. Had that with Vintage 30s and Greenbacks an estimated five or six times, and while it was mostly beer (which contains water, at least here in Germany), nothing happened to them.
But I understand your anger. Do you know the guy? His insurance should take care of it in case it really took any damage.

Why don't you take off the grille to see if there's any change visible?

And keep it mind: it's still just Rock'n Roll. Things like that will happen from time to time. Diezel stuff is too good to be grinded by some idiot, but, man...it's friggin' Rock'n Roll!

Whenever I let somebody use my gear, I make it clear before that he will have to pay me for any damages caused by his use. It's silly to let him sign a contract every time you let him use your cab, but a verbal agreement is still a solid thing and most musicians do actually have some kind of dignity.

Good luck!

Take it easy - maybe the speaker sounds better than before and if you're not experiencing anything weird everything is ok.

P.S. In my experience (bavarian) beer would've been better for a Diezel speaker than plain water. Mine is the miked on since christening happened :D
