Such a great rock amp

Massively versatile, this weekend playing a custom 22 with bare knuckles and a 1960A cab, a blend which on paper probably shouldn't work too well with the Hagen but wow what a massive marshall classic rock tone on Ch2, sounds so good, couldn't beleive it was coming out of a diezel, kept double checking which amp I was in :D

I'm old so normally don't gush but on this occasion just had to. Congrats Diezel, this is a fine fine amplifier.

Thank you, Sir
Please don´t call you old, I´m sure you have young soul
and massive Rock´n Roll attitude.

Hagen's a secret weapon man. That amp's got teeth for miles

Glad you dig!

Hey Scruffy,

Glad you are diggin' the Hagen...care to share your settings? Always looking to try what others have found to be delivering the sweet tones :D

Of course, it's a Diezel

If you don't mind, I'll just share the ol' "modded Marshall" trick with the Hagen. Back off the Depth and Presence to a hair above nil, master at noon, channel volume to taste. Treble at 11 o'clock, bass at 10 o'clock, middle at 3 o'clock - Gain at 11 - 1 o'clock, Channel 3. Channel 2 will get there too with gain a little more notched.

I'm not a Marshall kinda guy, but this setting will knock yer socks off if yer looking for that "kerrang" flav.

Otherwise, all EQ at noon, and adjust to taste. I've found - along with Reza - the amp changes with volume, so it al depends on how many dBs you're pushing in order to crack a setting code.

Peace,
Uncle Mo

Thanks Mo, I appreciate the comments. I will have to give them a whirl.

When you say the Hagen changes with volume, can you give me an idea of what the limits would look like? I mean in your settings you have Master at noon, is that for band volume? And are you saying the Master Volume is the key in this case? Channel volumes then set depending on the venue/room? I tend to set my channel volumes so they are even volumes between channels and then adjust the Master...sounds like that might be limiting the Hagen's ability to RAWK

Thanks for your help...

Hard to explain. Bedroom volume to jammin volume means the EQ drifts a bit - Fletcher Munson. The master volume in the attempt to get the ol' kerrang going is a function of having the bigger bottles taking the girth of the sound, and the channel volume sending a cleaner signal in - gain to taste.

But here's the 411: Say you're jamming away in your basement, you know, feeling the thump a little but just playing in yer own. You get the tones you want, things sound great, yada yada. Then you pull your gear up the stairs and haul it off to the next gig or buddy's pad to gig. You crank up the horsepower and you'll notice - void of the other band members' sonic interactions - that your tone has changed. It should just be "louder" but the same, more or less, right? Doesn't work like that with the Hagen - you have to use your ears.

Seriously, don't take my advice here - just hammer on that head and get the tones you want - play with extremes - zero EQ this, full EQ that - master high/channel low, master low/channel high... Spend some time with it. You'll have fun no matter what

Hagen is my Favorite Amp... Metal Baby, hard driving, fire breathing, low end crushing,Metal!

except I run everything on 11 :D

Thanks guys...I honestly haven't taken my time with my Hagen and I am ashamed

Really love Herbert and Herbert has been my number one for a while now. Never have given the Hagen a chance to push Herbert aside, if that's even possible. I will have to spend some time with Hagen and really put it through the paces as Uncle Mo has suggested. Trying all the options...

Reza, are you wearing ear protection dude? Rock on

Sure, ch2 I'm pretty much all at noonish for EQ, I find the pres and deep make a big difference on this amp so I tend to adjust these around depending on guitar etc, I also like to use the guitar tone and vol so lots of minor tweaks on these according to whatever I'm playing, I don't think there's a bad tone in this amp tbh, I also need to spend more time experimenting with it, just out of curiosity really.

But yeah, fave amp in recent years

SOLD Herb... still kicks ass but Hagen has a mix of VH4 n Herb to me! It has a grind that i love.

I'll be finding out how both the Hagen and VH4 sound together next month when my VH4 arrives. So far.... Sooooo goooooooooooood!

You know it's the right thing to do. The VH4 will be my dry amp and I'll use the hagen for all my effects. It will sound MASSIVE!

Ain't that the truth,

took the words out of my mouth but that said, Diezel amps are going in the right direction as their last offering is much more wallet friendly
i'd love to see that cost saving engineering carried over to the existing range though.
