Hi,

just a short question: Soem of you are talking about "Chinese Tubes" in V1 of their models.
Can you specify it by type or brand?

Cheers

Thank you!
I understand.
Most probably the SHUGUANG 12AX7B (High Grade), I guess.
SHUGUANG 12AX7A-C is different?

Greetings

Rather than purely go by if it's an A or B tube, try to buy from someplace that will grade them on gain. i.e. 90, 100, 105, etc.

Then you know how much gain you're getting.

Taht sounds complicated - where can I buy those - never heard about it ('m from Europe).

You can buy Shuguang tubes from Banzai effects in Germany. I just ordered a couple of 7025's... ;)
I think Tube Amp Doctor and Tube Town sell Shuguang tubes.

Does anyone really know how many factories there are in china making 12AX7s?

Are all chinese tubes Shuguang? Are they all coming from the same place?

Ok, thanks, I will check it!

Tube Town in Germany sells the Shuguang tube as their TT12AX7.

Hey, that's interesting.
They talk on their website just about Cinese Tubes - are all Chines Tubes Shuguang? I wanted to order some TT AX7 anyway, wondering, how they'll sound.

Thanks for information!

Are they comparable in quality?
Tubetown claims to have an extented matching. What experience did you make with btb?
Thanks

There are Chinese tubes (12AX7's) in most brand/label.For exemple,i have some M&B 12AX7's,some are Russian made (Sovtek)and others are the Chinese ones.Same goes with GrooveTubes etc..

Eddie, in my experience both shops deliver high quality tubes. Dirk at Tube Town describes his method of matching in the info section on his website, if you want detailed information on that. But I think what counts more is what you actually receive. The only preamp tubes that went bad on me were a couple of Tung Sol 12AX7s, but Dirk sent me replacements promptly. None of my preamp tubes has got microphonic, not even any of my selected EI tubes which are prone to get microphonic. A reason could be that they are specially selected and therefore also more expensive. By the way, these selected EI tube is my favorite preamp tube among the many current production tubes I have tested.

My experience with BTB is also just very good. My latest purchase from them was a pair of Svetlana 6550s and it is matched very, very closely.
