What cab/speakers would pair the best with Soldano?

I’m either going to get a Hot Rod 50, Lucky 13, or the new SLO 30 when it’s out. I know these amps have to have the right cabs/speakers to truly get that signature Soldano tone. I might just buy Soldano 212, but if I don’t, which non-Soldano cabs should I look for, and what speakers do I need? Does the EVH cab work well with the Soldano?

They sound good with V30s. Would sound very good with 25W Greenbacks too (which is basically what's in the EVH 4x12).

The Eminence V12 speakers in Soldano cabs are extremely colored, so if you're used to Celestions you may love or hate them. I think they sound decent with Soldanos but not the best. They're dark and scooped compared to most speakers.

Keep in mind the Lucky 13 is kind of its own thing—not quite SLO distortion.

From what I remember I wasn't much of a fan of the soldano cab years ago

Worked much better with the gflex I had at the time

I've played my SLO with my old Marshall 4x12s loaded with G12-65s for years with great results. I love that combination.

I'm not a fan of the V30 with SLO. I'm sure I could tweak them to work. I've never tried the Soldano cabs with the Eminence speakers, so no opinions on those.

If it were me, I'd probably look for one of those Marshall-looking vertical 2x12's and stuff a couple of G12-65's in it for the smaller amp. However, I haven't actually tried that, admittedly.

Agree with all of this. Same experience with V30s. Any GB style speaker will be golden. I've had 3 SLOs and 1 HR 100.

I have yet to hear a Soldano cab sound killer with anything other than a Soldano. It seems as if to me the Soldano cabs are tailored to Soldanos.

Keep in mind that I have never owned a Soldano, but I had an HR+ and a Soldano 2x12 cab at my place for a week. Did not like V30's at all. None of my other amps liked the Soldano cab. I realize that my experience is VERY limited, but I played the hell out of it when it was there. Sorry if that isn't much help.

It might matter which V30 (sorry to go here). I like mine thru my Mesa 4x12 with stock 8ohm V30s but those are known to have a much more rounded top, which G12-65s have as well. If it were the brighter 16ohm Marshall or regular Celestion V30 then I can see how that could get fatiguing REAL fast.

But I also like it thru GBs. Not so much thru the G12T-75s.

The 'which V30's' is a solid point. I have found that the Mesa ones are more forgiving with amps in general (note: I haven't tried the lm with Soldano) but they do get along better with more amps than the other V30's.

I run 4X12's loaded with EVM12L speakers with my HotRod 100+ and it sings like a jaybird .
Sounds so close to Gary Moore's "still got the blues tone" fat live tone , Soldano cabs with Emmi speakers makes me barf every time I hear them .

Kind of a related topic, but does anyone actually like those V12's in Soldano cabs? TBH, I haven't tried a Soldano cab, but I have tried V12's, and I've never found an amp I like them with. They seem kind of dull and fizzy at the same time with weird hollow mids. Kind of a mix of the worst aspects of T-75's and V30's.

I tried mine with a Mojave w/ G12H30's, a Bogner w/ greenbacks and ended up preferring the Soldano cab. I did not like it with a Mesa w/ V30's.

Most are looking to tame the high end zing that is present on Soldanos, as such greenbacks style, G12-65, Mesa Custom 90s with EVs, etc work well. V30's can be good, depends on the model, the cab and what you are going for.

I run a pair of WGS ET-65's with my Soldano HR25 and it sounds great. Also used an MC90/Eminence MS-12 cab with good results.

Just got word that $4,100 will get you a custom shop SLO 30 with a custom shop Soldano 212. Speaker options v30s, Creamback, G12h30, Greenback.

I will probably just order the Soldano cab. Which speaker do I need if I’m playing Demartini, Nuno, EVH tones?

Interesting price on that. Huh. Not sure if I feel good or bad about it.

The original UK made G12T-75 is an awesome speaker! It is an upscaled version of the G12-65. Same cone and magnet as the 65, but has a poly voice coil tube. The China made G12T-75 is possibly the worst sounding speaker I've ever heard. Break-in has no effect. It's not even close to being the same speaker as the original.

I don't have too much experience with Soldano but they are definitely cab/speaker dependent.

My friend has an SLO and when i played it I honestly thought it was horrible. Biggest disappointment out of any amp I played.

Then after some research I brought my v30 cab over to try again and it was night and day.

I would contact Mike Soldano to see what he says. He may have designed whatever amp you decide on around a specific speaker.

If you mean the first version vented magnets, I agree with one difference being the T75 is brighter. Great speaker though.
