What can you tell me about Ormsby guitars?

My guitar fleet is relatively traditional; Les Pauls, teles, Dunable R2s…so, mostly medium C necks with 9.5-12” radius.

Looking at an Ormsby Multiscale (25.5-27.5) for something completely different but haven’t ever played one. Anybody out there have feedback on the necks/feel/etc?

I played a couple of Rusty Cooley's personal models a few years ago when he was still with them. they play great. I can't say much more than that. I just could never get used to the look of the headstock

I owned a their X shaped one for 3 years. The fretboard is a little on the wide side, compared to what I was used to. The neck was really smooth and comfortable, not super thin like Ibanez. The stock pickups were pretty good.

It was a little too big overall for me with the X shape, I am interested in their SS models though.

Overall a well built and sturdy guitar.

I own a Hype 7 MS and Hype 6 Elite-II MS and both are top notch guitars in fit, finish, feel and playability. I own 1 plek'd guitar (Telecaster) that plays effortlessly and these guitars feel and play very similar to it.

As for sound...thats up for debate. Not that they sound bad by any means but they certainly cater to djent players and the like. They are just ultra bright and you basically have to have the tone knob almost all the way off to have a useable tone. No useable sweep IMO. You can sit there and say..."well yeah duh dumbass, they are multiscale and blah blah blah" but I like some balance in my tone. My 7 is loaded with Nunchucker and my 6 with a Blizzard. Maybe their other pickups are more balanced?

Buddy of mine has what I assume to be one of their cheaper multiscale superstrats with the Evertune....it's a nice guitar for sure and certainly looks dope as hell IMO

I have a Metal X 7 multiscale and my daughter has one of the Rusty Cooley models to hold her off while waiting on a preorder for another Cooley model :ROFLMAO:. My thoughts are that they are superb, but the ones we have are WMI built not Indonesia or Australia, so I can't speak to those. What I can say is that they are on par with my other WMI built instruments (Legators and Agiles) and would definitely recommend checking them out too if there is a similar model you like given the large price gap and built in the same factory. My Metal X is very neck heavy, but wonderful playability and quality nonetheless. They're going to be harder to sell than a Kiesel if you don't end up loving one.

I would definitely recommend browsing Agile and Legator offerings before settling, tbh. All the necks are different with Ormsby being the most rounded/chunky of my MS collection. 9/10 as a well built quality guitar, 6/10 for the money compared to the competition I mentioned, imo. Open coil multiscales can be difficult to find pickups for, so take that into consideration as mine have the thinnest sterile sounding bridge pickups (don't think I would call bright personally, but could be diff models). Almost lo-fi, just without the noise. Finally, I don't recommend 6 string multiscales with that steep of a difference between bass and treble sides. Unless you're eleven feet tall.
