Okay.... for whatever reason, my Boss CH-1 chorus pedal is driving me nuts lately... so I want to check out other chorus pedals. What are you guys using? Any recommendations? :gethim:

Been eyeballing one of those. Im currently using a Boss Super Chorus. It gets you by. Im building a flanger right now that will probably bump the boss.

Haven't been using much chorus lately, but when I do it's my trusty Boss CE-2 (with the silver screw)

I've been using this:

Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus. It's a bit more subtle chorus than others. It's more wavy than the super wet H2O chorus I sold. Both are good, I just like the Dano better. And it was cheap.

Chorus is a fickle beast.

some are stellar, some SUCK.

stellar:

chorus in my JC120H
chorus in my ADA MP-1 (fairly close to JC120H)
chorus in my old crate GX130C (close to JC120H actually)
Boss half rack, digital Chorus ensemble RCE-10 (as close to the jazz chorus as I've heard)
Digitech chorus in general = very good (tsr24s, studio series, GSP 21xx, 1101 series)
Rocktron chorus in general = REALLY good. (intelliverb, intellifex, etc)

bummers:

Boss CH-1 --> why isn't it more chorus-ey? gigantic letdown.
Boss CE-3 --> what a letdown :( (maybe my unit was broken)
Line 6 Mod Pro --> cool interface, didn't sound as good as Rocktron or Digitech stuff, cuts volume big time.
Guyatone MC3 --> sounds decent, except stupid design doesn't mount to anything very well. boosts volume bigtime.

Japan Boss CE-2 that I had rehoused for true bypass. The tone is just amazing.

I need to get one of those. Im slowly building up a coolcat collection. Theyre too cheap and too cool

I like the yellow Ibanez FL9 better for chorus better than anything else. It is also my favorite flanger. The Boss CE2 would be next.

I'm really picky with chorus. In my main rig I use the chorus in the Axe FX as it's my effects processor. In my backup rig I use the Danelectro DC-1 Cool Cat Chorus Pedal. It keeps the tone warm and full, adding chorus in the mix without sucking tone. I don't know if it's because it's 18V or what, but it works well for me.

Bear in mind, I use chorus only occasionally on some more dramatic clean parts. I'm not one of those guys that has a little chorus on all the time.

Eventide Modfactor.............just another case of me over-engineering something so simple.

Should have kept my DC-3

Voodoo Labs Analog Chorus. Great chorus tones for sure!!! I really dig this pedal. With the speed up all the way..and intensity at the right level, you can get a really cool leslie vibe too.

Arion SCH-Z.

Was about £20, it's nice!
I was looking for one of those for a while, I've read nothing but good reviews. Not a cheap pedal here, around $75 or so.

Nope, not you- they just stink :) My drummer has one and I had to use it once after forgetting mine at home, sounded like @ss IMHO. The CH-1 is better than that one!

I have a CH-1 as well, and personally I find that it is good sometimes for just adding a hint of colour to a clean sound if you're not looking for anything drastic. If you're looking for a wet, lush chorus, or something more intense you're definitely better off looking elsewhere, but I do wish my CE-2 had a level knob sometimes...

hey rockstarnick, how much did that rehousing cost you? My CE-2 is older than I am and getting a bit finicky :D

I have an Eventide Modfactor with the latest update - which is greatly improved.

I also have the Red Witch Empress Chorus. I plan to sell it though. It sounds better than the Modfactor, but I can get close enough - and the Modfactor is MIDI controlled - so that's a plus for me.

If you decide you want to go with a Red Witch, PM me.
