What did Cameron modded amps cost back in the day

I used to sit with Mark in his living room while he modded my amp. This would have been in the late 90's or very early 2000's. It was like $250 or so for the mods I wanted which were basically the Low Gain Jose. A modded amp of his was $800-1200 depending on if it was a later amp or an old Super Lead.

I saw Jason's video where he opened one up today and Cameron did a tremendous amount of work in these. It must have taken him forever. It's funny because the modded Marshalls today don't seem to have many mods and they sound just as good if not better to my ears.

I would assume, if you could find one today, they would cost a fortune?

I purchased a 2203x Aldrich a few years ago and paid about 3k. That probably won’t happen again but I also don’t have the amp anymore. I sold it for about the same oddly.

I was just thinking of steve k today while covering one of the songs he liked to cover

memories of that guy just have a weird way of popping up randomly in your head...

never even met him, just knew him from here but yet he was sort of a larger than life figure

I never was a member same time as him. I was just getting into electric guitar in 2013-16 and the searches for my questions led me to rig-talk, and he was often in the thread. I dont know if I ever met him. We were both southern boys in the oilfield, so it is possible i ran into him 20 years ago. I think he was a big guy, too. But most of us roughnecks are big.

his home base was right in the next county from me, but spent just about all his time in the middle east from what i could ever gather. and then when he wasn't in the middle east, i think he'd meet up with his wife on vacation....i distinctly remember him posting a pic from indonesia or thailand or one of the countries in that area at a resort lol. man definitely lived it up and helped a lot of people out here on gear deals for sure. just an all around great guy.

Pretty sure it was Abu Dhabi, as I had never heard of it,but then a local Vermont friend ended up moving there with his family to teach. Anyway, he's searchable on here under Steve_k and on TGP as Boggydepot . He seemed to turn over a lot of the Camerons. Meanwhile, then came Alex King (rocking Chippy, Groomed Noodlers, etc) and I don't believe they were related but he bought up a good share of the Cameron amps and I believe still has them. Tiego (Sblue) on this site has had what seems like a bunch as well, and the price he's selling for, is what people are willing to pay for the rare amps. PsychoDave from here also knew Mark and seemed to have a few really great Cameron amps. Anyway, wish I had played one when they were 750.00 for the modded Marshalls (I was buying up lots of other modded Marshalls then and had no money left) , or even one of the original CCV's for 2500.00 which sold used for less than 2000.00. . Those were the amp days :)

The one in my avatar.....I paid $850 for an SLP that was gutted and hand wired by Blankenship. Mark charged me $175 to mod it and I picked it up in person. JB offered me $1750 for it, he had to have it, so I sold it...at the time a $725 profit was a no brainer, I could always have Mark mod another one for me. I never got another one, should've kept it cuz we all know how that worked out.

Will also add that the first one I ever encountered was a 50 watt JMP that a friend bought that had a bunch of switches and push pull knobs on it....he couldn't figure out how everything worked and in a fit of frustration sold it to another guy for $850 shipped......
