I have just sold all my Mesa and Engl gear to go Diezel (except my little Mesa 525- insane little thing for small stuff... anyone agree?). Anyone particularly recommend any specially suiting Reverbs and/or delays for a Herbert? These are the main ones i am looking for...

And by the way... i find it incredible how the debate between Mesa (Roadster/King) and Diezel continues... for me there is absolutely no contest- the Herbert is sick.

Cheers guys,

James

Hey James,

Welcome to Rig-Talk

The best thing would be too put a TC Electronics 2290 in the loop. If you want to stick with a pedal my suggestion would be to put a Eventide TimeFactor in the loop of the Herbert and it will be righteous

ps: Diezel Herbert pwns the Mesa Road King II all day IMO. Ask me how I know

Yeah you should know!! I've just sold mine to get this- haven't got the dollar to keep both, i'm just a poor student :P

What do you use the Mesa for now then? Do you prefer it for anything in particular?

Thanks for the advice anyway man; i'll have a look around and get trying a few- i'm still tempted by the Memory Man though!!

What guitars do you play?

Mesa is a door stop at the moment   Seriously the Time Factor is not too expensive and worth it. TREX makes some great sounding delay pedals as well. I prefer Les Paul Customs w/ Suhr Aldrich Pickups. Once again welcome aboard, you will like it here...

Sick man. Thanks... i feel welcome :)

Gonna take a look at one of those- thanks for your advice!!

Are you in a band right now?

anything from tc or eventide would be my top choices. im currently using tc electronics for delays and verbs

The Eventide in vintage mode sounds very good to me. Tape and DD are not the worst sounding either ;)

welcome aboard! I use the MXR Carbon Copy, just remember to put it in the loop - it works great, very nice sound, good bypass, good build, not too expensive. More expensive alternatives would be T-REX or the EH Memory Man.
But IIRC those don't use 9V DC they need 12V or AC or something...which sucks for us Voodoo pedalpower users ;)

- Rune.

Dude, thanks!! I'm still weighing things up... welcoming new additions to ongoing debate :)

hey Andy....you like TC stuff....what do you think about the Gmajor? I've heard the fx are very good, but it colors the tone a bit.....

how much? I wanna get one but the sound coloring is really throwing me back, since I'm experiencing A LOT of sound coloring from my ME-50 and it sucks....it's got some cool fx, but right now I cannot throw it in the loop because of that....

what do you say?

i also run a carbon copy in the serial loop.

works great and sounds awesome>

that being said, i only use a little bit of delay for some ambience.

Good advice imo, cant go wrong with one of the holy trinity of fx

Right now I run an Lexicon MPX-1 for verbs and a Roland SDE-3000 for delays, sweet sweet stuff.

I think the majot colors myself, a cool box for the money but you can do better esp if youare not cycling through patches...................................

The Lexicon MPX-1 imo smokes the majors verbs, not even close but there is the damn lexicon patch switch lag times.
