What preamp sounds closest toa Mark IV? Quad/Studio?

Was wondering what preamp is closest to a Mark IV for heavy riffing. I'm guessing either the Quad or Studio, but I know nothing of neither one, or is there something even better?
 
Quad all the way! I used to have a midi Quad and ran it through an ART tube Parametric EQ and a Mesa Strategy 500 - very ...AJFA at its peak.

The only downside to the Quad is that they get noisy as they age - eventually becoming unbearably so.

I was told that you can send it in to Mesa to have that taken care of, but had neither the time nor inclination to deal with that. Bearing that in mind, I still think that it is one of the finest preamp's ever produced. :rock:
