What will a Herbert "bring to the party"

Okay guys,

I need to confess that over the years I have become a real fan of Diezel now owning a Einstein combo and Schmidt with a 212 rear loaded cab AND no other amps.

I've just been fortunate to land a bit of extra cash that could buy me a Herbert and 212 front loaded cab and one or two other nice pieces of kit. So, what would the Herbert give me that my Einstein and Schmidt wont?

Or am I being down right greedy/excessive?

What da think?

For starters it ll bring an excess of 100 Watts more than the other two combined :D

Herbies are pretty common in Guitar Centers. May be able to find one and feel that bone crushing power for yourself. Ask for the long guitar cord though

You are asking on a gear forum about having too much gear....

We will have no such talk here.... :gethim:

It's so you're far enough away that you don't end up knocking your own teeth out with the sound you're going to get when you hit that first chord!

So I guess "life is too short" - splash the cash and enjoy!

it has a thickness from all sides of the gain and eq structure that cannot be gotten from any amp......so thick....its sounds like a guitar on cd a  after mastering

I have to agree with this statement, m y bands producer who is the kinda guy that has the attitude of "I've seen it all" and really isn't impressed by much anymore these days couldn 't get over my VH-4, he kept saying that "Your getting CD quality sound straight from the cab"

....the reason I mention this is because the Herbert is the exact same way, you get what sounds like mixed and mastered guitar tones live in the room as you play, pretty awesome

This!

We are jsut back from the studio - and our producer is always hard to impress also (i guess most of them are hahaha), anyway: not only was he very impressed by "that sound doesnt need any post processing, thats straigth up mastering-quality", it was also his first production where he ended up with just using 1 amp (Herbert of course) in the mix. We did reamp through a couple of other amps in advance as he didnt trust me at first when i said "no need for other amps" so he wanted to go for sure...but now in the mixing process he deleted all other tracks right away.

I have sensed it too after having both Einy and Herby in my hands for a weekend (only  )
To my ears Einy can achieve better medium gain tones (the famous Texas mode). But when talking about high gain, Herbert is far ahead. It has something evil in it.

Yeah, Herbert has some evil rawness in its character. A friend of mine (who is always talking in "pictures" when he describes sound) once said "when i think of the sound of the Diezel Herbert, i have this image of a total evil looking waveform in my mind...if you imagine the Engl (he owns the Savage) as a straigth block in a waveform, the Herbert would be ultra-spikey, with shitloads of barbed hooks - it would look like the mouth of the devil, ready to eat your soul!"
