What would youse guys do? Rebel 30 or RM20 w/modules?

I am in a quandry - deciding between the all-Eggie Rebel 30, or a Randall RM20 head with some Eggie modules. The Rebel 30 and an RM20 head with 1 Eggie module would be about the same $$$. I'm really leaning toward the RM20+Eggie modules so that I can have the versatility of swapping out, but I am just now sure how the rest of the RM20 would stack up against the Rebel....

I'd personally wait until the RM22 comes out, and get that instead of the RM20. 2 module slots...etc etc. Makes more sense to me vs the RM20.

I have an RM20, and I think it's a kickass little amp. I love the idea of being able to practice/jam with ALMOST the same tone as my real big live rig.

Tonewise, the RM20 has a little less gain on the front end. IE, I feel like it doesn't hit the front of the modules as hard as the Mod50. That being said, the built in OD boost with it's own volume control is great! Works great for solo boots, and also great for low practice volume: tightens up the lows while adding saturation, kinda like a tube screamer.

If you already have a modular system, I'd go with the RM20. That's just me...

The only disadvantage to the RM22 is that it'll cost more, and you won't find a used one as easily. A used RM20 head can go for as low as 350 sometimes if you're lucky.

You will get a unique, different sound with the rebel. A very very nice sound. You can have more options and variety potentially with the RM20 setup, but it will never sound like the rebel, for the good or bad, its up to you to decide. If you really like the sound of the rebel, i say go for that, but if you want to get into module swapping and buying/modding, go for the rm20.

I kicked this around for a few weeks myself but it was between the Renegade and a RM50. I eventually went with the RM50 that Jeff was selling with the Egnater grill cloth. I hope to have that this week!

Either way, I planned on buying the E2 when it comes out. I don't know. Maybe I should have bought the Renegade so that I could have used the tube mix options. I will probably end up with a RT250 also so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Well, there's that too. I keep going back and forth on the Renegade as well. Yesterday, I was into the Rebel more. Today, I'm more into the Renegade. JHC - why do Bruce and Jeff have to make so many good amps!

Plus, it has a variable, footswitchable gain boost on each channel, making it sort of a 4 channel amp...This is the one I'm waiting for!!!!!
