I thought I'd ask the Rig Talk collective a question. I have a purple VHT 2150 and might sell it to acquire a different power amp, another Soldano Sm100r.

I paid crazy top dollar for my 2150 about 4 years ago. What do you think is a fair price for one or what might I expect it to sell for (ballpark)? $1000? $2000? $5? Priceless?

Thanks.

You can probably get around $1100 for it if it's in really good condition and it doesn't have bad rack scratches.

I had worked out a deal back in January for a purple face 2150 that was in immaculate condition that had recently been retubed. We came to $1300 including shipping but then I couldn't close the deal. I sent the guy like 3 emails with my phone number asking him how he wanted me to go about paying him and he just stopped responding. Who knows. Maybe he never really had the amp.

Anyway, I ended up paying significantly less for a black face one that needed new tubes.

Are there any circuit differences between a black face and purple face 2150?

Pretty sure they're all the same, circuit wise. I think some didn't have certain voicing switches, but I'm not sure if there's a correlation between the color or not. I know that black one in the classifieds a few months back when for something like $750ish.

There is no voicing switch on the 2150.
There is on the Classic.

I have voicing buttons on the back of my black 2150.

This came up before here or on Huge Racks.
The back has hi low inputs; mine does not have voicing buttons.

Another SMr? Sweet! I finally had to pass on the last one I found. I think I am addicted to power amps.

It's been a while since I've had a 2150, so I don't remember. Maybe there are different versions?

Throw in a Boss Metal Zone and I think we can strike a deal.

In all seriousness, that's a nice power amp in super clean shape. I'd hold onto it.

Thanks. I probably will hang on to it. I have the original knobs; I changed the volume knobs to WHITE so I can easily see and change them on the fly during a gig.

~1400 is what is fair. anything lower is a good deal.

i have seen some people ask as high as $1800 before though.
