What's the difference between Herbert 2+, and 3?

Title says it all really!

Just curious as if I tweak the gain and tone knobs as much as possible they still sound a bit different I usually used 3 for heavy, and use 2 in - mode with higher gain for more bluesy stuff, but recently been using 2+ more for heavy sounds and switching the +/- more....

I think 2+ is tighter but have less gain than 3. I use 2+ for thrashy rhythms and 3 for more extreme metal rhythms. I like both for solo work as well. When I play bedroom levels I crank the gain a bit more on 2+ or just go for 3.

Yeah, would sometimes be nice if the 3 channels were voiced 1, 2-, and switchable 2+/3. Not complaining but I could happily swap the switchable mid cut for midi switchable +/- mode instead. I hardly ever use mid cut. Maybe I should experiment with it more as loads of people love it?

My Herbert is from 2007 and in my opinion the Ch3 has more low end and is more loose in its bottom when compared to Ch2+. Especially true with 8-string guitars. When using exact same cab with same mic configuration and SPL-levels, this is also visible graphically in my recordings. Using mid-cut seems to emphasize this even more.

Channel 3 is tigher, its more compressed but in a good way. I mostley play channel 2+, the gain structure on channel 3 is a bit to much, even at lower gain settings. For Some leads and some riffing i do preffer channel 3. Its all about wich guitar im roking at that moment and what kind of sound im going for.

Just experiment and enjoy

So far got a channel 3 is tighter and a channel 3 is looser!?!

That's what I figured, but wondered if I could get channel 3 more channel 2+ sounding if I'm using 2 for lower gain - mode sounds and still want to midi switch 3 channels. Maybe turn the bass down a spot too from what's been said.

I love channel 3 it's absolutely tight n brutal. Use a splash of mid cut n I saw thru the mix !

When I had mine.....I remember never leaving channel 2 very long.....
would go from 2+ just KILLING for most stuff....then to 'soften' it a bit for classic rock... 2-
great amp for sure!

Well, turning down the bass would help a bit but i would def. turn down the gain also to make up for the difference in gain.

I would use ch.2 on plus mode and for the lower gain stuff just dail my guitars volume knob down, leaving ch.3 for those in youre face rythem and cutting leads.

That's what I normally do. Just liked 2+ more for heavier stuff recently. I changed my guitar strings last night though so they all sound different again now though! I don't like any of them quite as much with brand new super jangly strings! *faceplam*

haha, same here. A bad habbit but i try to change them once a month. Right now i dont get that much play time but playing regular i would change hem every 2 weeks.
