Now that the Rebel 30 has been out for a bit and all you guys have had time to tweak with it and compare... What's the general consensus?

Rebel 20 or Rebel 30? Who wins? Or are they both just as great?

I don't thnk there really is a winner because they serve different purposes. I prefer the rebel 20, because its way cheaper and could do all i'd need. I also think the rebel 20 has a bit more "punch" for lack of a better word, but the rebel 30 is much more versatile due to the channel switching/added gain/more versatile cleans

I'm another one with a Rebel 20 and two Egnater cabs. It has all that I need. The 30 sounded a little darker to me. Not that that's a bad thing. I pretty much abandoned the Fender amp camp except for a 74 Champ. But that could be why I liked the slightly brighter 20. Either way you can't lose.

I voted for the Rebel 20. I just recently have been able to play through one (as well as the Rebel 30).

I like the Rebel 30's features, but it was a bit too smooth for my tastes on the gain side. The cleans are very nice.

The Rebel 20, tonally, sounded more to my liking and the overdrive is definitely more raw than the 30's.

Just my $0.02.

I've never played the 20, but I love the smoothness of the gain on my 30. I normally set it with the bright switch on and the treble backed off. If I disengage the treble and compensate the treble accordingly, I can get more of an edge on the distortion.

I'm sure the 20 is also a great amp. I LOVE my 30!

Mod 50 FTW!!! :)
   Hey Danny, where you been mang?

Danny?!?!?!?! What have you been smoking...my name is eric!!! DUH!! :)

Maybe he was referring to me Eric. I'm Danny.

I've be in and out you know. I like this forum a lot, so I come and visit often. But, then I forget and disappear for a few months at a time.

I've been working on drumming stuff lately and surfing a lot. My guitar time has been limited, therefore the lack of of "guitar fever" at the moment has kept me away. I'm considering selling my Rebel 20 to help gas up for baby duty (coming April 2010). Then after recovering from that, buying the Rebel 30.

I really like my Rebel 20, but I play a lot of music that requires a clean channel too. That's why I'm considering the 30.

I just saw there's similar thread to this one. I overlooked it before starting this one.

  Funny, but Danny was right.Should have made two posts :D

I voted the 30. Love it love it love it! 66% for the 30 so far BTW.

I see there are twice as many votes for the 30 over the 20. But, 8 votes over 4 is hardly enough. :) I'm going to have to really test out the amp at GC and go from there. But, it's safe to say that I probably won't regret going either way.

I've heard a lot of comparisons between the two based on the dirt channel, but how do the cleans compare?

I tried them both and came home with the 20 ans two 112 cabs. I like the simple versatility. I play mostly blues and it just fits my style of playing. The amp has been rock solid reliable for me since August 09.

Hey guys, I had to revive this thread...

Yesterday I was at GC and I tested the R30. I can say I like it better than the 20. Reason being, I like the cleans better. I'm playing a lot of clean stuff lately and while I have a Mesa Lonestar (perfect for cleans) it's a bit big to carry around for smaller gigs and for church playing. So... I'm going to sell my 20 to get a 30.

Head or Combo...? Don't know yet. Probably a head.

I also like that it has reverb. Digital. But, who cares? The pedal I'm using with my R20 is digital. I can sell that too now and it'll open space on my pedalboard for my Carbon Copy. Win. Win.

BTW, I also saw the new Mesa Transatlantic the other day. I'm a Mesa fan as much as an Egnater fan. Well, I was truly disappointed to see it doesn't have an effects loop! What the heck!???

So, extra points to Egnater for adding a loop to these small amps. I'm buying the 30. Sorry this time Mesa.

The cleans are so good on the Rebel 30 I am seriously considering a custom dual channel R30 Clean module for my MOD50. It takes pedals so well it's ridiculous.

That's great to hear. There's one thing I really need right, and it's great cleans. Bell-like. It's a lot of what I've been playing lately. So... I'm stoked on the decision to sell my 20 and get a 30.

It's up on eBay right now:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :MESELX:IT

I mean, the Rebel 20 is amazing. I'm going to miss it for sure. But I can't justify having a 20 and a 30... Plus the LSC, plus 4 guitars, and 5 surfboards and 2 drumsets... etc. etc.
