What's the story on the Bogner Wheat cloth?

That original Bogner Wheat was so nice. What happened?
 
yea just bought a new 101b and was bummed about the new face plate. it looks plastic and more like what egnater uses. suck

I have very, VERY limited knowledge on this, but here's my assumption:

The wheat grill cloth was some NOS overstock, and Reinhold bought ALL of it. Lasted about a decade, and then they ran out.
 
Maybe NIck. I do know (Charlie told me on the phone) That they stopped doing the metal grilles because the manufacture up'd the price a good amount and Reinhold was pissed about it. Maybe it was the same manufacturer that gave him the wheat. Or maybe it's as Nick said.

I'm in total agreance with the OP. The wheat and metal grilles were awesome. I do not care for the new paisley tolex or the salt and pepper. I do like the off whites the make on the 20th shiva though.

I wanted a metal grille for my TJ. No dice.

I have the salt'n'pepper cloth on my off-white 20th-X, so classy :D
 
I didn't realize you couldn't get the metal grill anymore. That sucks. Don't think it would be that difficult to source a new supplier.
 
I actually didn't like the wheat cloth - at ALL. I was always, and continue to be, a fan of the regular black tolex (no cosmic swirls!) and black grill cloth.

Agreed , the all black with silver piping on the uber is classy
 
Back in Jan at the NAMM show I asked Bogner about the metal grill because I heard it was no longer available. They told me it was available again. Did something change with it again? I have two Rev Blue Ubers, one in white and the other black tolex, with metal grills btw :) At the time I got them I never thought the metal grill would not be available anymore. Bummer if thats true as the metal grill is really nice!

I was under the Uberschall headshell with the metal grill would fit the XTC, at least the 101b. Maybe you could score one of those empty shells, though it may not be worth the cost to you.

Back when I bought a headshell in white with metal grill, Charlie from Bogner confirmed the same headshell does indeed fit the Ecstasy and Uberschall.

Loved the metal on my former white headshell TJ. But ya know? Once ya get a TwinJet up, cranked and thumpin' through a sweetass 4x12....??
