These have been out a while and we are starting to see some used ones for sale now. I'm wanting to try one out. Can it pull of Mark IV tones? Whats the consensus on these?

I've played it and liked it a lot... it's pretty much a more aggressive MKV with more clarity

I love my JP-2c. I have only played a Mark IV once many years ago. So no help for your comparison. I have played several 2c+ back in the day and the JP2C IMHO is just as good but better with 2 od channels and EQ's And the good clean.
All I can say is give the Jp-2c a spin. They are desirable so you should have minimal risk reselling it if its not for you.

I love it! I've had a couple IV's and a V, liked the IV's, not so much the V. The JP2C smokes both of them IMO, better sound quality and more options.

Yea I love the IV but 2 eqs, a better channel 2 and midi would be awesome. I did not like the V either. I really liked V:25 also but was to limited at 2 channels.I would probably have to let my IV go if I went for the JPC2.

Out of all the bogies I have tried out my jp is the best of the bunch...one of the best amp purchases I have made in a long while.... so many different tones in this amp....it's here for the long haul for sure!!!

Man. Nice to hear guys that like the IV and not the V like this amp more than the IV. I'm in that same boat, and also loved the V:25. Need to find one of these JPs and try it out.

They are amazing, one of the best clean tones you can find in a high gain amp IMO. You can set up two completely different mid/high gain rhythms/lead channels to work with, and can get very aggressive without being too harsh. Very smooth lead tones

How well does the JP2C clean up to volume/pickup adjustments?

It does clean up pretty well, especially at low gain levels. With the gain at 10:00, it's fairly low gain, but has sustain like most amps at 3:00.

I've had multiple Mark IIc+, Mark III, and Mark IV, and it'd easiest the best of all of them for playing out. Great amp.

I'm broke and can't afford one so I'll just convince myself that my Mark IV is all I'll ever need.  Honestly though, I've owned a ton of Mark series amps, 4 or 5 IIC+'s and a bunch of III's and IV's. I really think the IV I have now is among the best, maybe it's the tubes or the fact that it's matching up great with an OS Mesa 4x12 I have it on. But it really is better than a few of the IIC+ amps I've owned. Don't get me wrong, I wish it had MIDI and a better R2. When I get some dough I'd probably grab a JP2C rather than hunt down another IIC+. Since I use a Fractal AX8 using that with the JP would be killer.

I'm using the IV with the AX8 too. Using a midi box to switch channels is a PITA and just more shit to haul around. Also I could REALLY use a better R2,so the JP2 has got my attention.I thought the Mark V would be my answer (minus midi) but was pretty disappointed with it.

I think R2 kicks ass once it's boosted from the BB Preamp or 808 pedal sim from the Ax8. Ditto on the V, I think the IV's lead channel is better. I don't have a MIDI box but will eventually get one. I think the FX8 will change channels on the IV but I don't want to lose the amp and cab sims.

I love my JP2C. Running it through a Splawn 2x12 with v30s in it and love it. Nothing but great tones in this amp.
