Here,s the setup.

I am playing thru two amps,
seminar head w/4X12 GC eggie straight cab and a vox ac30 w/1x12
and they are set at the same volume for a stereo effect.

Using my volume knob, when I turn up bringing the amp into higher gain, the vox get a little louder than the seminar head.
Then... when I pull back the volume to clean up the tone, the seminar head gets louder than the vox.
as a test I used a super reverb in place of the vox and it does the same thing.

Any wisdon from the ancients?

All I can think to try at the moment is to use a clean boost to the vox when I pull the volume knob back.

Thanks

What are you using to split your signal into these two amps?

TheGrooveking

a lynch 3 toggle ABC box
1 input 3 outs

when volume down and with a clean tone I also noticed that when I play lighter the seminar head is much louder then when I play harder attack the vox becomes much louder.
any thoughts, anyone?

well i don't know how wise i am but i am ancient so i feel qualified to take a SWAG.

speaker efficiency at specific volume level?

Different circuits compress differently too, its part of what makes amps sound different from each other. I'm guessing this particular example is down to number of gain stages mostly. Both the AC30 and the Super Reverb are low gain designs while I suspect the Seminar head is a high gain design, it's based on the TOL100 and SL module if I'm not mistaken. A low gain circuit will always have more dynamic range than a high gain one since each additional stage will compress the signal a little.
Of course, speakers play a big part in it too. They always do and yet most people seem to forget them.

This sounds right what I am experiencing.
