Where could I get some really good inlay work done?

I've been considering finding a place that would be able to replicate the Caparison clock inlays and put them on the blank maple fretboard on my Horus. Anyone know of a place that would be able to do that? They would have to be able to pull them off perfectly for me to even think about it though. Any idea what something like that might cost?

How about the factory? MAybe they will exchange for one? I love the blank look of the maple!

No chance of that Dave. They only do custom stuff for endorsees.

It's gonna be a good bit of $$$ though. He'll need to refret the guitar.

Thanks Tommy, I'll shoot him an email and see what he says.

Man, you just can't leave a good thing alone :aww:

I'm thinking about getting the headstock repainted to match the body too. And maybe a 3 way switch installed as well. :D

But, why do all of that work since you know that you will not end up keeping the guitar? I don`t mean that as a dig towards your buy and sell habits, just why would you dump the money in that you probably will not get anything back for it knowing your typical routine?

Just looking into what it would cost and if it's doable. The guitar is already totally custom and the clock inlays would very likely increase the value of it anyways.

Isn't that gonna take down the resale value?

I don`t know if clock inlays from someone other than the factory will increase the value though, especially since most custom inlays are going to be 500+ as a minimum since they will have to pull the frets to do a good job

Nope. The maple fretboard alone paired with the Snow Cloud body already makes it worth about $2000-2500 to diehard Caparison fans.

Glenn Schoales at http://www.gruhn.com/ is as good as anyone when it comes to inlays. He built me a custom guitar in '89 back when he had his own company. He is the cat's ass.

When someone finds out the inlays weren't done by caparison you will have a problem. Thats my guess anyways.

Won't matter if they look exactly the same. Like I said, I won't even think about doing it unless I know it will be done perfectly.
