Where to get power for LED's in chassis with Herbert?

I'd like to put 3 or 4 blue LED lights in the chassis of my Herbert like Engl's amps and the Framus Cobra.

Where would be THE spot to pull the power from and would you say "no big deal, go ahead" or would you not recommend it Peter?

I think the Herbert would look BAD on a dark stage with it glowing blue behind the grille.

Sorry, but I don´t recommend to get the power out
from the chassis. Maybe get it from the phantom
power on the midi in plug. 1 = minus, 3 = plus.

Get a 2,2k resistor in series for every LED.

I see, but if I used the midi in for that, then I wouldn't be able to use midi in-thru for anything else correct?

The columbus uses the 3 prong plug right?

THanks for the super fast response Peter.

Well, the XLR plug is also phantom powered.
So You can use either the XLR or the midi in
jack.

I think I am going to take your advise and not mess with it at all. I think I am going to try those blue glass JJ KT-88's.

I don´t have this LED lightning fever ;)
  yeah, it's not something critical, just looks kind of cool. ;)

I think I am going to try these guys here. With the Herbert having 6 tubes, I bet these would give the grille a blue tint on a dark stage...???....

Sure, compromise your tone for a novelty color.

That's because you're old!!
Aww, that's mean... oh wait, who am I to talk.

Sheesh, like E.T.'s ship is not landing behind you already with the channel, mid cut and switchable loop on already. :D

You can always tell a Herbert video on You Tube. The guy in front of the amp looks like a Smurf !!!!

I'm on call for my local airport. If the landing strip lights ever fail, I can bring a generator and a Herbert to
help guide the plane in. Channel1, Mid Cut, Loop, Store and Mute can be seen flashing for 3 miles....
7 miles with good visibility. :D

Don't forget to look at the external power supplies... :D

Mark, your link reminded me of this: https://cgi.ebay.com/LED-LIGHT-BAR-for-g ... 4a9b5b3404

This might be a practical solution to RJF's request. Mount this on the back of the Herbert and plug it into a power conditioner/outlet. Looks like you can order blue or green.

EDIT: Which, btw, is incredibly similar to what Mark posted after he changed his link. ;)

The Monkey Dream Kit comes with everything. i may even buy that myself !!!

Sweet....

You don't like JJ?

I've personally had fine luck with JJ's and plus my local amp tech sells them for a decent price that is also a factor. It just so happens they make them also in that blue glass and I thought, since I like JJ anyway.....

I appreciate the links guys, but I don't think I want to add something that is kind of an "afterthought" that needs it's own power supply and what not. I was interested in doing it if there was an easy way to hardwire and mount them inside the chassis, like Engl and Framus.

I'm just going to leave the amp alone, and likely try the JJ KT88's, been wanting to go '88 for a while now anyway.

Sorry, it's difficult to type sarcasm sometimes.

I have JJ EL34s in my VH4. I dig the saturated gain a lot more than what the =C= 6550s did to my tone. You should post pics of the amp running the blue 88s.
