hey man, welcome over here!
this place moves a little slower, so give it time.
and J.B. is right, the Cornfords are great! that's what i have now, and gave up a Cameron to get it. i like the 2 channel MK50II a little better than the MK50.
as mentioned before a Jubilee would be nice.
haven't been around the Vintage Modern, but seems like they aren't too bad?
I have played the Vintage Modern a few months ago and didn´t like it at all. To me, it sounded thin and fizzy...
It´s interesting that you sold the Cameron to get a Cornford MK50. How would you discribe the difference between them? Which Cameron did you have?
Oh, and what´s the model no. of the Marshall Jubilee? Would this amp deliver the sound I´m looking for or would some modifications be necessary?
Lots of questions, thanks for your time
i had an Ocean Plus, which i guess had some elements of a Jose to it and then other stuff?
i'd say both of the Cornfords i've had are a little darker sounding than the Cameron i had, but not too much so. the Cornfords are damned close for feel and playing response to the Cameron i had. the 2 channel MK50 is just a little brighter with the EL-34's, and that's why i like it better than the single MK50.
the Cornfords seem to have just the right amount of gain, they get mean sounding without getting compressed and mushy sounding/feeling.
the Jubilee i played was a black tolex 50watter, i didn't pay attention to numbers or anything, just know it sounded awesome! to me, the Jubilee is Marshalls attempt at a hotrodded Marshall.
if you hang around here long enough, eventually a Cameron will come up for sale. if you don't wanna wait, then you'll have to research and do the best you can.
there's lots of other modders/builders doing thier own thing, but if you talked to them and explained what you wanted, maybe they could come close?
in Germany, we've got a forum member Duesentrieb building some nice amps amps. then there's Tommy Folkesson in Sweden.
in the States or Canada there's tons of modders/builders. Mike Fortin, David Bray, Martin Golub, Dave Friedman, Voodoo Amps, FJA, Doug Roccaforte, James Peters, Scott Splawn, etc. etc.
besides the Camerons being great amps, there's also pickups and speakers to consider. and other tricks to get stuff to kicking ass, like slaving ( hint, hint, wink, wink )!
search around for clips on the guys mention, and see if any of them are getting close to what you're liking from the Camerons.
