Looking at a Warlock.

Its between NJ series and Platinum series.

I used to have a platinum back in the day and it played pretty nice.

But I hear those are junk? Is the NJ series much better?

The NJ series is made in Japan, I think, and are pretty solid guitars. I had a NJ series Eagle, set neck, cloud inlays, very good player.

Yes they are definitely made in Japan. But where are Platinums made?

Anyone know the difference between the 2???

I had an NJ Warlock. Played awesome and sounded great. The shape was just too much for me though.

I have never played either of them but I own a Warlock Calibre series. They were very short lived, but IMO a very nice guitar. Neckthrough, floyd, nice build. I put Dimarzio Chrome Top EVOs in mine. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a B.C. Rich Warlock. I don't play it much because the shape isn't me. I had wanted one since the mid 80s, but never had the cash at that age, I bought it more for nostalgia. Here is a link to specs:

NJ is better than Platinum if it's truly from Nagoya. Some of the NJ's are made in Korea and are nice as well, but you gotta pick and choose.

The old nj series from the 70s and early 80s were made in japan. After 1986 the nj series are also made in Korea. The newer nj series guitars are all made in Korea. Japan hasn't made any nj since the 90s.
Platinum series from the late 80s are junk. They were not made by Bernie Rico's team. Those guitars were licensed by bc rich. STAY AWAY.
NJ and Platinum after 2000 are both decent guitars.

I had a factory H-S-H Koa Mockingbird that Neil Moser did for me in early 80s -Koa - a real warm , super versatile guitar- I was never too crazy about the shape but it sounded great.

The nj is a higher up line, I think the platinum was their lowest tier. The newer nj although not made in Japan are still decent guitars and are neck through designs , not bolt on junk.
