Which module do I need? EG5 or MHG or....something else?

I love the SL2, but the lead tones I like best are with the gain maxed out. If I were to look for a module that was most similar to the SL2 but had a bit more gain on tap, would it be the EG5 or the MHG, or possibly the Erect? All the reading I've done suggests the EG5, but interested in comments, thanks.

Go with EG5. E-Rect and SL2 sound way different and actually E-Rect doesnt have tons of gain like EG5 does.

Agreed. ERect does not have as much gain as the SL2. Both EG5 and MHG have tons of gain. If you like your lead tone a little bitier go with EG5. If you like like it a little smoother and darker go with MHG.

Really? I'd expect a module based on a Rectifier to have more gain than a module based on a Marshall.

You would think so, but Id say the E-Rect and SL2 have similar amounts of gain. EG5 has TONS.

My vote is for the EG5. Best module they make in my honest opinion. But hell, all their modules sound amazing :).

Well, I LOVE my Erect, but if you want something more in the ballpark of the SL2 just with more gain, I think the guys are pointing you in the right direction with the EG5. Erect has plenty of gain, but the voicing and EQ characteristics are way different than SL2 - not that the EG5 voicing is the same as SL2 either, but I think it would be closer than the Erect.
