Which preamp tubes for Renegade 212

Hi,

I want to replace the stock preamps with JJ's or EH's. I was thinking of a V! picked JJ in V1. A high gain picked EH in V2 and 2 high gain picked JJ's for V3 and V4. Is this a good Idea? I think the stock sovteks are not realy my sound (although the renegade is a killer amp!!!).

What is the best to use for V5 (fx loop) and V6 (what does this one actually do??)

I don't have a Renegade, but my Mod 50 loves the chinese and Tung Sol pre's better than JJ's. The EH's are ok too. Sovtek LPS is good as well and is very good as a PI tube.

I just have not had much luck with JJ pre's. Although I do like 'em in my EG5. That's about the only place though.
 
Just installed a mixture of Tung Sols & Sventlanas in my Renegade head this past weekend. Big difference over the stock pre-amp tubes. Everythings just crisper. Will get to play it at rehearsal this Wed, that will be the real test. Also, changed the EL34s to Tung Sols & the 6L6's to some JJs I had laying around. Time will tell. My problem is I changed so much at once to be sure what's making it sound so good. But good it is!

I had a set of RFTs that came out of every amp I sold and into whatever I bought. Then went digital and sold my 1959x with them in it. Now I'm back to tube amps and just have the stock ones in the Renegade. I'd buy yours if I had the cash, but I'll be picking some up one day for sure. Nice tubes.
 
I bet they do. They were my favorite tubes of all the ones I've tried...not that I have tried a whole lot of them.
 
Ruby AC7's and old blackplate RCA 12AX7's are my favorites.
