Vai tracked the parts to that album. I believe that would be his Jose modded Marshall. It was the first major rock album to feature the Ibanez Universe 7-string.

God damn it that is awesome.

Over the weekend I jammed along to a few tracks off of this album and the album with Still of the Night on it. Vai didn't use a lot of gain when tracking. Just layered the ever loving hell out of the guitar tracks! I kind of remember him stating in an interview somewhere that one of the songs had something like 30 guitar tracks on it.

Love this album in every way. The tones, playing and production is indeed awesome!! And the eventide harmonizer fx that vai use on the leads are so lush and trippy. Love it!!!

Here a cool video showing the evolution of this song in the Demo stage.

Starting with Adrian's demo's as they evolved up to the point where they are "combined" with Vai's demo's at the 3:50 mark with both getting solo spots. Vai then took everything and completely redid it as in reality Adrians parts at that point were just guide tracks as he was suffering from the hand injury. Which would not be properly diagnosed for another decade plus. Regardless Adrian has never played the same or matched his abilities that he had on the three original Vandenberg solo albums.
