Hey guys, I no longer own a Marshall but have been seriously considering one. Problem is, which model? The new ones don't seem to be made too well and the older ones don't have many features.

So, what Marshall(s) do you have and why?

:)

I own 6100, but for sentimental reasons :). If I'd buy a Marshall now that would definitely be JVM410H. Based on JCM800, great sounding amp. You may achieve many classic tones using it, and more :). With a few mods done (which can be obtained on JVM forum) it is a perfect stage machine. A friend of mine owns one, did a couple of mods and shreds heavily with it :).

Regards, Andy :)

Thanks bro, I like the JVM, but play it next to a Satriani JVM and you will sell the 410. :)
The quality of the JVM series, like many new Marshalls, really worry me!

I have a JCM 800 2203x. I had Ben Fargen rip out the PCB, install a Metro turret board, replace the OT with a Marstran, change the components to the same as Adam Jones' Superbass and jump the inputs internally. Oh yeah... I had a LarMar PPIMV installed also.

Why do I have it? His Marshall tone kicks all kinds of ass and then some.

leib10,

Hey dude....my reason for posting in the Bogner forum is because I am curious if those of us who own Shivas and XTC's still own Marshalls or have recently purchased a Marshall. Sometimes I think my Shiva and PWE take the place of any Marshall I could own or do I really crave a real Marshall in my collection? LOL. :)

Having BFG Amplification, Voodoo, Fargen or FJA mod an older JCM 800 has been on my list. I would love something that covers the Billy Howerdell tone and Adam Jones tone. I am also a huge fan of Jerry Cantrell. Running my PWE and Bogner together gives me a huge Cantrell tone.

I have an xtc and to me it's the best multi channel out there. I am also a big marshall guy which I think led me to bogner. The bogner to me is a fatter sounding marshall with a good clean channel and more tonal options. Still the bogner side by side with my Marshall's is voiced a lot different in a good way. My favorite Marshall's to have with the xtc would be plexi, jtm 2204-50 watt , and I do like the jvm410h. I have had and have all of these amps. I have had the satch version of the jvm but like the regular jvm better. Last but not least I love the marshall 18 watt 1974x for blues and classic rock. These amps IMHO are all crazy good

No.

Bogners and Marshalls, not really a correlation in my humble opine :dunno:

I grabbed an SLO. It is a great amp. But I have to have 1 Marshall..and I have a Jubilee combo that is also good but I thought I'd try a 2205..locally one was for sale pretty cheap so I grabbed it. This amp is IT..unmodded and it's all right there..open warm Marshall tone at its finest. Just sold the Jubilee. Never thought I would. No boost needed..tight low end also. The best Marshall I've had and I've had plenty of modded ones. Never thought I'd say that about a channel switcher but I have to..SLO and this 2205 are all I need. And it's completely stock. It's an '87...

Just got myself a DSL100

That is telling. Not much difference to me, there.

How they feel under YOUR fingers, channel switching while playing live, fx loops, and durability may be the determining factors.

^^^^ I'm sure Hunter will chime in but that Marshall is not stock.
I just picked up a Friedman BE 100 (new version) and it delivered everything I was looking for in a Marshall flavored amp in spades. Actually above and beyond...
