Would it work well for death metal? I'm looking for something as tight as a VHT, as aggressive as an Engl, as huge as a Mesa, and as dynamic as possible!

Is this it?

I had one for a brief period of time. Andrew is a great guy and makes cool amps, but I just didn't care for the tone. I found it to be pretty much the opposite of what you're looking for (Loose, muddy and harsh). I didn't care for the clean channel at all either. Andrew does offer free mods if you don't like the amp...but I didn't have the patience to send it back to him. I much prefer the Makoplex with a boost.

Good info! Thanks! Doesn't sound like I want that one.

There IS a Makoplex on ebay right now! IT's tempting me but I hear so little about them that I have cold feet! I REALLY want one of the new MAK2 amps! BUT He said the estimated delivery time is November :( I don't know if I can wait that long. I'm not good at waiting.

I got AmpliFIRE's Makoplex from him and did not like that amp...... at all. Blech.

I bought the amp Amplifire is talking about and loose, muddy and harsh only applies if you have it lower volume levels. Even at 4/10 on the master it's kind of 'bla' but when you get the master at 5/10 (which isn't obnoxiously loud but a good rehearshal volume) the amp totally wakes up and you get rewarded with smooth creamy gain that explodes off the pick (very fast attack) and a really in your face crunch. The amalgamation of sounds you described sort of applies I suppose.

Amplifier owned the amp for about a month. I've had it for two years so take that FWIW.

Different strokes brother! I knew from the minute that I turned that amp on that I didn't like it. No matter what settings or volume I played it at...

I love my Makoplex every bit as much as i love my cameron. If you have any Makoplex questions feel free to hit me up.

with your pedal modding/building skills i'd think a Mako PTP would defenantly be something to consider, should be pretty easy to tweak a turrent board?

and as mentioned, Andrew will tweak them as well.
