From what I understand the independence day celebration is linked to 1776.
Hundreds of years ago.
When apparently the people fought against 2% taxation because taxation was theft.
And now, people dress up in American flag thongs and shoot off fireworks. Guns. Etc etc... and yell "Freedom ain't dead"... while obediently paying 20-30% work check tax. Then paying 7-10% on everything purchased after that with what's left of their original taxed money...
While also paying property, car, etc etc tax on top of that.
So is it not ironic as fuck that we still "celebrate being independent" now with the "1776" selling point?
