Why don’t pedal makers add a mix knob to every pedal?

I'm currently working on designing some pedals that revolve entirely around a mix knob. It's mainly just going to be one big knob. Don't want to give away any more than that. I'm curious which pedals you'd like to see with a mix knob.

Hear hear. Couldn’t agree more

As a fix, you could use something like this…

I absolutely love having a mix knob. One of the reasons I think the Strymon stuff is smart. Even the Chorus has a mix knob.

I have built several FV-1 based pedals that have a mix, analog dry-through, and can be programmed to hold 8 programs. Those are some of my favorite effects loop pedals.

Certainly wouldn’t want a mix knob on a wah. Would never need one on a chorus, flange or phaser. Could be interesting on a tremolo as some tremolos don’t duck well and can really play havoc with rhythm playing.

Amen. Still waiting for a decent sounding chorus or phaser with a mix knob.

Especially something like a bass distortion/overdrive pedal. I had to make my own workarounds for years and when they finally start building pedals that will overdrive just the high frequencies and let you blend in your clean signal I had already gravitated to straight in to a bad ass amp and just digging harder when I wanted dirt and letting the PA and engineer do the heavy lifting. I even tried getting @Arch Stanton to build me a pedal recently just for nostalgia, even though I no longer work as a musician.

I do have a TAFM with a blend knob and it worked okay I guess, but in the end miking the bass cab and running another signal straight to the board and having a good sound engineer works best.

Agreed. I’ve been saying this myself for a few years now. There’s no reason for any modern made pedal not to have one at this point in time. Laziness on builders part IMO.

The mix knob on my Sparkle Drive is what’s kept it around for over 20 years. As a straight Screamer type pedal it’s pretty ordinary. Mix in some dry which fattens things up and it’s very nice.

It’s definitely a nice thing to have on compressors
Yup.

Peeps have been whinging for years about the fact that most plugin designers haven't included mix knobs on their compressors.

Saves a bunch of bussing and hassle if you want to do the parallel-compression thing.
