Hi Folks,
I am just curious why some people use distortion pedals with some modules. If you needed more gain or boost, wouldn't you rather buy the module that would give you that instead of buying a distortion pedal???

Sorry if i sound naive, but a real valve preamp sounds much better to my ears than an electronic pedal with diode clipping.

For me, it's the different "flavors" acheivable by using pedals. I don't use pedals so much with the higher gain mods like the EGs or the SL2, but with the SL I do all the time. That particular module takes pedals very well.
I use pedals to add a little something to the sound, not to be the whole sound. I like having the tonal options.

I can't speak for the others on hear, but for me I will buy the modules and the pedals!!! :D  and have both

You can make a 3 channel module. I use an OD with the Bassman with great success and tone. Plus it gives just a different flavor than the SL2 or EG5.

Spend about an hour with a Bassman module on channel two with a Zendrive in front of it.

Then we'll talk. :D

higher gain mods = pedal is completely unnecessary.

lower gain mods = I'll get back to you if I ever find a pedal I like

I have a BMan on order right now. I'm hoping my OCD in front of channel B will give me a little bit different flavor than the SL2 channel A/B. We'll see when it gets here.

Sparkledrive is a favorite. BB preamp is a winner with the SL.
