Hi everyone!
Im looking to get a diezel and dont know wich one would suit me the best.
-Im looking for thick/warm/liquid/glassy lead tone with sustain.
-I play a lot of Dream theater,Liquid tension,Opeth,Iron Maiden,Satriani,Malmsteem,Deep purple,hendrix,zz top.
-I like prog metal with heavy but warm tone, stoner metal, fusion rock jazz and dirty blues.
-I also like melodic death metal but i dont scoop the mids..i only need it to be heavy and tight enough for fast rythms but still warm..not harsh or metalic/cold sounding.
-I play, record 90% of time in my bedroom(above speaking volume) so sounding good at low volume is a big big plus for me.
-I can use my maxon 808 for boost and put a volume pedal or mxr eq in the loop if that helps

Leads : Herbert
Heavy : Herbert
Tight: Herbert chan 2+ gain halfway / Vh4
Bedroom volume : Herbert
Need a boost : Noo wayy !!

Is the einstein close to the vh4 or herbert for tone? It cost like 1500$ less, here in canada.
I wish i could buy them all and decide wich one to keep.

The Einstein is really it's own sound. I had one for a couple of years and recently sold it for a new Herbert. The Einstein sounds great but it really isn't the same as the other amps. It's just different. Does heavy tones very nice, great fluid leads and a fantastic texas and clean tone. If it had the midi switching like the Herbert and the three separate channels like the Herbert, I would have been hard pressed to sell it. It's a great amp.

But then again, those reasons, along with that mid-cut are the reason I bought the Herbert.

1-VH4
2-VH4
3-Herbert
4-Herbert/VH4

I suggest you the Vh4 but the best thing is,if is it for you possible, try both amps.

They all suck, try different amps.
  ok im gonna look at Engl....

Seriously i think im gonna get the einstein or the herbert if i can justify the 1500$...if i dont use the mid cut is it really worth it?
With that money i could buy another guitar...

It's just got a different growl to it. I really like mine now more than my Einstein now that I have had it for a week and finally got my speaker combo right. The channel switching works fabulous as well. No need to modify the amp and use another footswitch (as I had to do with my Einstein). Best of all, I have the Line6 M13 and it switches the channels on the Herbert in scene mode which is awesome for me because it reduced my pedalboard size and the number of cables going between pedals.

That mid cut is beautiful though.....I love it! It sounds fabulous at lower volumes.

Now...I already have 4 awesome guitars...so I didn't need another. If you only have one guitar, well then....perhaps you may find that extra $$$ to be more use for you somewhere else

Did I have to spend the extra $1500.00.......NOPE. My Einstein sounded great as it was
Am I glad I did.....YUP!

I was going to opt for the Herb, but the V does sound better at lower volumes than the Herb. The Herb blossoms past noon on the MV as does the V, but there's a difference of almost 80W additional from the Herb to the V.

Liquid leads can be had from both. I think you'd be happiest with the Herb, personally... Even though I own a VH4S.

Peace,
V.

either way..both heads are killer!!

OK, I'll play the game.

The Einstein has the best low volume lead tone. Also the best liquid lead tone out of all 3.

The Herbert has the best lead tone out of all amps ever created, but ch2- is what I'm talking about.
