will 6P3Ss work in a Tweaker 40...

Tough question. This is a Tetrode, rated 400 Plate volts 20 watts, 300 screen volts, same pin-out as 6L6 (minus the 3rd grid tied internally to Cathode), so it could work. Obviously the 40 will exceed the tube's voltage parameters. Being a Russian tube, I would say that they would work well, even with the voltage applied being well above the tube's ratings, if the bias is set so as not to exceed the max Plate watt rating of the tube. But, unless you have experience with these tubes in a similar amp, it certainly could be risky to use them in the 40. I would say that the 6P3S would be better suited for replacement in a 6V6 amp instead of a 6L6 amp. As Clint said; "Do you feel lucky?" :scared:

thank you-

so, all I really have the worry about is frying the tubes?...the transformers should be fine?

I wouldn't go that far. If you fry the tubes, other parts of the amp can also fry, including the PT, OT and resistors, and even other tubes. The 40 has fuse protection in case of output tube failure, but considering the problems with transformers in Egnater amps, I would err on the side of caution myself. Although my feeling is that these tubes would work well in the 40 or similar amp, you're still taking a chance. You might want to contact Egnater and see what they say about it, CYA as far as warranty.
