Was thinking of getting a wireless system for just home use and saw the Line 6 Relay G10 and G30 suggested as popular on Sweetwater for $179 to $199. Just wondering if anyone has any feedback if these are ok or good enough? Does wireless affect tone very much?

I had one for a bit... personally, I thought the remote was cheap as shit. The battery compartment was shitty and I got it replaced under warranty but dealing with Line 6 support is enough to make you want to fucking kill people.

I sold it and bought a Shure GLX

Ah, good to know. *looks up Shure GLX* thanks!

Check out the G10. There is no remote pack. It's rechargeable. I've been gigging with it and it works awesome. Sounds the same as a cable. I had the Shure PGX. It sounded bad and dropped out all the time. Sold it the day I got the G10 and never looked back.

Line 6 are great, I have G50 for at least 100 shows works great. Battery door is zip tied though to keep shut as it started to not stay. I know the G70 and G75 have new improved transmitters. G10 has been getting good reviews too

I have the G 70 remote is really nice on the 70.

G10 sound amazing, rechargeable
Only 50ft but perfect at home

I have a G50 and a G90 and have the same problem on the battery door with both units. I bought replacement doors from Compass (cheap - only about $10), but haven't replaced them yet because it looks like you have to completely take the transmitters apart.

The units work great and sound great, but these fucking doors are pissing me off.

My G50 has seen a couple hundred gigs since buying it new. What I have found is the battery tabs
at the bottom of the transmitter flatten out a bit in time from dropping batteries in and creates a gap at the top of the door.
If you pull the bottom tabs up slightly that tightens the space between the top of the batteries and door.
I do this every couple months after having the same issue described and the unit continues to flawlessly gig after gig.

With mine the doors just won't stay closed or won't lock. The little tab that slides in to lock it gets stuck...one of the doors just pulled apart after having to force it open and/or closed and now I have to zip tie it closed (similar to halebox who posted above). The other one I'm still at the force it open & closed stage.

I've had the G30 and G50. The G50 has been awesome to me for about 6 years, now.

Not the cutting edge of technology but i have an Electar SD-1000R that works well.

I rebuilt the transmitter.

Had the G30...worked well for a couple of years and then went to a G10. It has been flawless. As long as you don't stray out into the audience during a gig, it's fine. No recharging is saving me tons on batteries. I tried rechargeables in the past and they would never last too long.

I had the G30 twice. First one was great. No drop outs, no problems. Sold it when I wasn't gigging for a few years then got another when I got back into a band. The second one would have real quick drop outs here and there so it had to go.
Went with the Shure GLXD16 and I love it. Rechargeable, no tone loss, built in adjustable boost, tuner on the floor pedal receiver and most importantly never drops out.
Might be a little over kill for home use, but its a solid unit!

I gigged a G50 for several years - never a problem. Battery door worked fine for me. Range is excellent.

IMO the G30 does not represent the Line6 wireless line well at all. It's their bargain basement entry model. The G50 is a completely different piece of gear.

Thats good to hear... I think I may give the G10 a try.

I have the g10. It's a great little unit. They are serious on the 50ft range but as long as you are in that, it's golden.

This.

I have one as well and it's been fantastic and easy to use. It's plug and play. Just charge it up, put it in the dock for about 10 seconds to sync it with the jack and then plug it in and off you go. Only issue I have seen (but not personally experienced) is if you use a guitar with the input jack on the front of the guitar (ie Strat, SG etc), the transmitter can get in the way, but you can get an adaptor if need be.

Also, no tone suck and no latency.

I've been using a G90 for a few years. It's the best thing Line6 ever did. It sounds like a cable. After 4 PODs, a Vetta2 and 2 floorboards..I swore they'd never see another dime of mine...but that thing is great.

Analog wireless companding always fucking sucked. It wrecks the feel so hard. I had a Senn X2 digital wireless that sucked too.
