Bummer she didn't work out for ya, but they definitely have a feel/response of their own.

That said, good price on a killer killer amp that can do alot tone wise as a single channel amp!

Keeping it after all, messed with the EQ on a boost that had it on top of the boost function

That plus EMG 81, found the tone!

Dude! This makes me happy! Really glad you found a combo that works for you. That clips sounds great....and I can even hear some extra saturation in those mutes, which I know you had struggled to get out of it. Really awesome!

Thanks man, with the 81 and added mids/saturation it sounds just like the ride the lightning tone. I donā€™t know how good of a job the phone did of capturing it but Iā€™m gonna record direct into Logic this weekend to showcase the sound!

add the 24v mod for that 81 and get back to me. watched your vid again and have a few observations....1) great song choice and killer playing. 2) amp sounds killer....everytime you stop playing you get a speaker thump so I know that amp has big ole hairy huevos. 3) that les paul fucks hard bro. It haunts my dreams at night. why did you ever post that video?

I appreciate the kind words, Iā€™ll have to look up this 24v mod, never heard of it

Iā€™m gonna change my name to dreamfucker now lol

Itā€™s hard to get unique gibsons, they wonā€™t do anything if you ask them for it, itā€™s always ā€œyou can have any custom guitar you want as long as itā€™s this oneā€. Got very lucky with this one!

This Wizard has been one of the most challenging amps for me to mess with. Itā€™s just very far out of the usual for me. Iā€™m probably going to get skewered for this but itā€™s a vintage voiced amp and if you want to push it into the 80s/90s metal tones, youā€™re gonna need some juice from a solid boost pedal. It was probably known and shared by all the wizard pros on rig-talk but I donā€™t read real good, I have to bang my head against the wall to learn

I'm sure it's like any 800 style amp. My 1st Marshall was the Zakk signature halfstack. Got home and set up and plugged it in and.....wtf? this is only good for surf music or rockabilly. Called my dude up and said wtf kinda pos did you sell me? He said you have to crank it and boost it dummy. Busted out the ole ibanez tone lok distortion pedal and got my head ripped off. That day I learned....this is the way....

the 24v mod is a little unit that has 2 12v batteries that has the same footprint as a 9 volt battery. Never been a big emg fan but it changed my mind on emg's. I will never have any guitar with emg's and just run a 9 volt battery. It makes a big difference for the better.

Wow ok Iā€™ll need to get learning on this situation

Boosted is 100% the way to go so I completely concur with your assessment! Lolā€¦learning by doing!

@mhenson42 My experience selling is terrible. Iā€™ll have stuff listed for months at a low price and no hits.

Iā€™ve had it happen on multiple occasions where Iā€™ll take a $5k guitar to then after having it listed for months and then Kirk Hammetts tech buys it within 15 minutes for more than I had it listed for (true story btw)

I did alright on this one. My purchase price was low enough that taking into consideration the shipping/insurance and then tire kickers and time spent dealing with the whole thing, I ended up in the same ballpark.

I buy a lot of stuff from
Nashville GC, they help me out when they can šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Also a true story, I logged on to FB for the first time ever and tried to join some groups for gear and was immediately declinedā€¦šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Glad I got to try it, gave it multiple honest tries, just not my thingā€¦life marches on šŸ˜€
