wolfgang vs striped series

I'm hoping someone can help. I'm looking to purchase an evh guitar but not sure which is better the striped series or the wolfgang special ( around 800.00) I know the wolfgang comes with the cases but which is the better guitar. I've always dreamed of playing the red,white, black guitar and now it may come true but don't wanna buy it if its not as good as the wolfgang.

Striped Series, you don't need a neck pickup or a tone knob.

The Fender built EVH guitars all feel like Fenders to me. Not a bad thing but there was something special about the EBMM and Peavey models. Mostly in the neck. The older guitars have an asymmetrical birdseye maple neck with 6105 frets. The new guitars feel like a typical C shape fender neck and the frets are too small (I prefer tall frets). SS frets was a nice touch though.
I prefer the Peavey Wolfgang. The neck is a bit larger then the EB, and the pickups are fantastic. I also like the thicker maple arch tops.

Out of the guitars you asked about I would take the EVH Wolfgang. It's a more versatile design. I don't think one guitar is better then the other.

The stripped series I had was...crap. Got it cheap and flipped it days later. I would go for the wolfgang, make sure its the jap version

I have a striped series... the neck felt rough, had a local tech raise the grain and sand (a few times) and then do the whatchacallit oil... smooth as silk now, I like it alot, specially for the bucks!

thanks everyone. I was just not sure which is better? The striped series look awesome but wasent sure about the playability. It seems that maybe the wolfgang is a better choice but maybe ill look for an older model wolfgang.

Make sure to include the now discontinued USA Peavey HP on your search

You need to find a used US or Jap Charvel. You won't care about the stripes once you've played one, I promise. And they can be had for about the same or less money.

I like my EVH wolfgang(us model) but the Peavey imho is a better guitar. There is a nice black arch top us Peavey wolfgang on the gc used website for 799!

Interesting. I have an '01 Pv-Wolfgang and love it. Been trying to unload a Strat Am Dlx start so I can get a nice evh Wolfgang (fender model).

I actually hated the EVH version at first, and yes after owning 2 of the usa models. Decided to give them another shot and bought the USA stealth model and they've grown on me. I still feel (and ALOT agree) the Peavey is a better guitar. I actually almost just sold everything I own to buy the custom shop wolfgang koa on ebay lol. great guitars

Love everything about the PvWg; weight, balance, cut away at neck pocket, tone, neck feel, ect. My only complaint, if I had to find one or two, I'd say the frets are a touch tAll, and the hard edge digs in on my arm like a mutha after playing for a while. But those are really stretching it.

How do the frets, neck of the fender compare to the PV?

How do the frets, neck of the fender compare to the PV?

not even close. They're not bad on the fender, just different. The fender frets are stainless and small and the neck is a bit chunkier feeling.

At the price you want to pay id say find a USA Peavey Wolfgang. No comparison to the current specials or striped series.
