Just won it on eBay. Only two months old and in like new condition - $1025

Now if I could make up my mind on the Egnater 2X12 or an Avatar w/ the same specs.

No questions asked...get get the Eggie TM 212, and change out a Elite 80 for a G12T75. Great tone!!! I had a Avatar Vintage 2x12 and a TM212 both with a CL80 / G12T75, and I really liked the TM212 better. But both are killer!

And...Welcome to the Egnater family!

Was going to go with a V30 and a G12H30 in the Avatar if I got it. Seems to also be a nice speaker combination. What does the G12T75 add that is missing in the Elite 80?

Also, do you prefer the Eggie cab open or closed back?

Adds some top end...and some upper mid range...and some lows. The CL80 is a great low-mid grindy speaker. I like that combo as it does a huge variety of tones very well.

I'm personally not a fan of V30s or G12H30s...so to each their own. I do like the Weber Blue Dog though...which is a bit similar to a H30...but smoother.

What kind of music do you play and what kind of sound are you going for? I like mine better with the back vent open. YMMV.

For blues / classic rock stuff....i like it open...for harder rock / etc...i like it closed. It's great either way though.

I don't know about the tubes, but definitely go with the Tourmaster cab. I've got the combo and it is great. I believe the cab has a removable back, which the combo doesn't and I wish it did.

You know- I just got a great deal on a 2005 Les Paul flame top.

I wonder if we are benefitting from other people's suffering?

Are we getting deals on this stuff because others have to sell because of a job loss or to keep their home?

No reason to feel guilty- It's better that the stuff is used and has a good home, and if we buy it we are helping someone. If it gets thrown out it just ends up in a landfill.

Still, it's a sad thought.

Arrived today in great shape. I have one question though - Where is the serial number? I can't find it anywhere. The only number I see is a small sticker next to the electric shock warning with the number AIE04. The seller said the serial number was 05081196 M.

Can't play the this because the cab is not arriving until Monday.

That's the serial number. The M means that it was modified by Egnater from its original specs- something about fixing the bass tones.

But that's the thing, I can't find that serial number anywhere on the head. I did eventually see that it was on the box it shipped it, but I would expect it to be on the head itself.

My combo unit has it on a sticker right above the A number. Maybe your sticker fell off? Possible if it is a modified unit. I'd contact Egnater about it. I wouldn't worry.

I asked the seller and this is waht he had to say:

I actually had to call guitar center up and ask them for the serial number because they kept that and the item description in their records when i bought it. As far as i know this was a brand new head, i bought one that they had not even unpacked yet so as far as that goes I don't know why it would look like that, i really didn't even notice it myself.

Sounds a bit odd to me that GC would keep the serial number. May be Jeff can shed some light on this.

keep that serial number on hand. This is the one I will use and you will use if you have any issue with the amp. Don't worry about consider it a mute point.

The cab arrived 2 days ago. Have not had a chance to play with it very much but I'm really enjoying it already.
