I've owned neither, but played both. I vote a big no too. The tourmaster has a much larger more useable tone vocabulary than the Mesa.

im with you guys

i think i REALLY like the stilletto ace lead tone though. a lot.

Meh,

I probably would.

I've tried to like the Tourmaster when I've demoed it, but it just doesn't sound anything like my Mica TOL 100

i love the ace tone.

but i REALLY also love channel 3 tone on the tourmaster.

i finally got to "open" this amp up at a nice high volume to see how it reacts.

the GT6L6 seem to get a bit high endy in this amp when i put it from 10 watt mode to 20/50/100.

not a bad thing. but not a great thing either.

channel 4 is a mystery to me. it WANTS to get heavy, but it gets flubby after a bit. i have the bass mod schematic. i think im going to do it soon. sometimes channel 4 sounds REALLY good to me. other times, with the same guitar, it doesn't sound and feel like it should.

i asked John Ewing about another issue that im having. i'll bias this amp at 132, and a day later, it's reading 120 or lower. he thinks i have a bad power tube. if thats the case, maybe channel 4 will finally come alive.

Channel 4 took me a while to get used to, but it does modern rock leads well. My faves are one and three, although two does great blues/old rock and roll with my 335!

My Tourmaster was in the shop for a bit recently, and I tried out a few other things. I still think it beat the Mesas and Fenders, particularly for the money. In fact I thought it was better than the Rebel and Renegade. It is hard to beat that feature set for the money. Still, it's not going to be for everyone.

I love my M4, but I would take a Stiletto over a Tourmaster anyday of the week.....
